Guys, I recently arrived from Jo'berg. Started work begin October for a small company called Siemens. Maybe you've heard of them? Anyway, are there any other South Africans out there in Munich? Shurely there must be?

Why were the South Africans upset when the UN weapons inspection team visited Cape Town?
Because they don't like Blix.

A new South African wine shop is just about to open on the Fraunstrasse, Isarvorstadt. The opening party is tomorrow night. A friend of a friend of mine is playing drums there. Apparently all are welcome. See:

Hi there!
I have just started my studies here in Munich and was wondering if there are any South Africans about? Unluckily I left SA at the age of ten, so now I am more or less "germanized", anyone feel like helping me get back to my roots?

I'm just back from an Stammtisch and there happened to be a South African Stammtisch on in the same place at the same time - maybe ten or twelve people there, so there are definitely other people from SA out there.

Hi all!
I organise the
SA Stammtisch for Munich.
It happens first Saturday of every month, 7pm onwards, at the
Löwenbräukeller - Stiglmaierplatz.
If anyone needs any more information or would like to be added to our mailing list, see the website:
SA MunichI'm a South African that's been living in Munich for the past almost three years. There's quite a big community of Saffers in Munich and always more joining.
We do organise get-togethers in between the Stammtisches too... depending on the weather and season, anything from an outing to the Christkindlmarkt to braais in the park!
Cheers

Hi Sandals,
my husband and I arrived in Munich appoximately three weeks ago. We're from the beautiful Cape.
I bought Mr's Balls Chutney at Hamburger, very happy about that! And will make a nice Malva Pudding soon to ease the Homesickness!
Where in SA are you from?

I myself moved back to Johannesburg last November after four years in Munich!
The monthly Stammtisch also still takes place, so if anyone is interested, see:

Hello there,
Have only been in Germany for the past 3 weeks, and will be here for the next 3, with husband, who works for Siemens. We are originally from Cape Town.
I know that you are all based in Münich, but is there, or do you know of any S.A's living in my side of the world, or any other contacts? That would be Forchheim, or any in Erlangen, or even Bamberg area.
Your get-togethers sound lekker, but alas, we don't have a car yet, and the train takes 2,5 hrs to get there, so it would be a bit difficult to get there, even though we would LOVE to attend. Still adjusting to the culture and people, as well as the transport system.
So PLEASE, anyone, HELP, CONTACT, ANYTHING...
Would love to hear from people.

I am a Saffer and will be in Erlangen in September on business, also with another South African colleague of mine. We're also from Siemens.
So maybe you'd like to join us for dinner?

Hi
We lived in the Landkreis Bamberg for 4 years but have moved to Bad Aibling (close to Munich). I really miss living there as I find the region(Franken) much better than Oberbayern.
We are often in Bamberg as my parents-in-law live close to the city. Maybe we could meet the next time we are there.

Most of the South Africans go to the Outland to watch the football and rugby at
Rosenheimerplatz. There's also a SA Stammtisch which meets once a month. I'll pm you their contact details.

Hi, welcome to TT!
There are loads of South Africans roaming about the place.
Type in South Africans into the search bar on the top right and you'll find loads of info about being a South African in Munich.
As far as English TV sports goes - you can always check the TV listings and different bars in the right hand column of the TT main page.
The Arc pub shows most English sports and you can request to watch particular games there too.

the Arc in Schwabing is a good spot, they play loads of ruggers,
cricket, footie etc. Tends to draw a fair number of Saffers when you guys are playing
