Hi,

I am a South African. I am completing my state articles in law at present. I have applied for an internship with a law-firm in Munich for 6 months. I have spoken to the South African German Embassy regarding the requirements for a work visa.

They do not seem very sure of anything and I aim to start this internship in April 2007. This does not leave much time for obtaining the required visa.

I was informed that when I make application to the German Aliens Office in Germany I must include a letter of employment from the law firm in Germany.

Before I email the law firm please could you advise me of what the letter of employment should contain?

I was told that it needs to contain the following: -

1) Capacity in which I am employed in. (I will be employed as an intern in the commercial law department);
2) Remuneration received by the company. (We have not yet agreed, but it will be a nominal amount to cover living expenses over the 6 months);
3) Conditions of employment. (I am not sure what this refers to);
4) Period of employment. (In my case 6 months).

I would like to know if there is anything else that should be included in this letter of employment? I would like to send the law firm in Germany a comprehensive email and not a piecemeal one. Please help as the South African German Embassy don't seem to know what the requirements are.

Thank you. I have posted this in the visa section as well, but i just wanted to find out if any of u guys could assist me.

Why doesn't this surprise me? I wouldn't know where to start if I were to tell you what all I have experienced dealing with them.

Your best bet would be to ask the GERMAN Auslaenderamt or the Bavarian equivalent to that. They would be able to tell you what your future employer should put into that contract. Asking the SA Embassy has no future. They could tell you anything, get the info you need from the authorities here - the ones who actually decide whether they let you in or not.

Good luck!

Hello Saffas, I'm a South African guy just arrived in Munich and am wondering if anyone knows of a place that will be broadcasting the hiding that the Springboks are going to give the All Blacks this Saturday Might be fun to get a few Saffas together and enjoy the game?
adrian_t
AFAIK the game is at 9:35. Kilians, where a few South Africans (including me) usually watch the games, only opens at 11:00. What to do?

EDIT: I just phoned: Kilians will be opening at about 9:00 for the game. I'll definitely be there.

Hi,
I'm very new to MUC (landed a few days ago) and wondering when the South Africans are going to get together again.
Look forward to meeting everyone.
Rich

PS. Anyone up for a game of tennis / golf / squash then let me know.

We are also new here and keen to meet other Saffa's. Let us know when the next meeting is.

Hi guys & gals!

As you all know by now, we are having a different kind of Stammtisch this
month. We will be playing tennis (you should all have received an Email
about this) and then we will have a braai. I know that not many of you are
playing tennis, but should you want to join us for the braai.. please let
us know by Wednesday.

At the moment we have registered 25 people and we might have a problem if
to many people join us unexpectedly. But hey.. 'n boer maak 'n plan.

Should it rain, we will have the Stammtisch at the usual place. (Same as last month)

going to be lekker and here is to the Bokke beating the Ozzies 53-8 last

a racket, please bring it along.

We booked a Braai-Buffet for EUR 12,00 pp at the club starting at approx. 18:30 which includes meats, salads, bread/brezen etc.
