I have only been able to find peperoni, which is similar to pepperoncinis. I am looking for standard hot and spicy jalapenoes and wondering if anyone knwos of stores that carry mexican food, even online companies you recommend ordering from. I though of shipping from the us but the custom laws are pretty specific about bringing in food.

Are you looking for the fresh stuff because I have seen the bottled variety in Real - in the same section as all the other bottled, pickled stuff.
This site looks like it may help you:

Jalapenos in the glass are normally available in Rewe, Edeka and Real. The fresh ones are available with a mixture of other Chili types in Kaufland. The local asian shop in freising sells the Haberno chilis (whole and fresh) from their fridge.

All the ones I have tried in the glass jars from the stores are a joke. There are three peppers on the label, to signify "hotness", but not a one of them had even anything resembling a little kick. I thought I scored with Old El Paso, as that is an American brand, but also was utterly dissappointing.

I agree the jarred, sliced ones aren't very hot at all but can be found in most of the larger grocery stores (Rewe, Marktkauf, Hit etc.) that have mexican sections. I prefer the Fuego brand over the Old El Paso but they are very similar.
For proper fresh Jalapenos, again most large grocery stores sell them in a package with about 5 different peppers with varying grades of hotness. They are in the fruit/vegetable sections, often near the ginger. They generally have a hotness meter on the back so you can look up which pepper is which and some of these will really knock your socks off. I try to have them on hand at all times.

For Munich residents you can get all this stuff and more on Viktualienmarkt, then pop the seeds out and grow them yourself year after year. If your German is up to it then there's loads of useful information on
Chilli Balkon.de.

I bought fresh jalapenos in Karstadt a couple of days ago and they are indeed spicy (The Fuego bottled version just doesn't compare). This is the first time that I have come across fresh Jalapeno peppers in Karstadt.
Do take a look in your local Karstadt outlet.
