Hi,

Just wonder any Malaysian or Singaporean is reading this newsgroup? I am glad to hear from you if you are one of them...

regards,
Kong Weng

Well there 2 Singaporeans that I know of here. Andy101 is Singaporean, but have not seen him or his cool foodie postings for a while. There is another chap, whose screen name I don't know, who I chatted to about food many times, but that was about a year ago.
bummer
hi, singaporean here in munich for the past 6 months. have not met a singaporean or malysian soul (not countintg the 2 i already knew before i moved here) during the whole time here yet.

Actually I'm Dutch-Singaporean, or something similar to that...
don_riina
Jeff! How are you man?

I still have lots of cravings for lots of food, but yeah, I do miss my daily dose of duck noodles from down on Pasir Panjang road. sad.gif
edwin

We should do an outing sometime... maybe dim sum at Jade near Michaelibad?? Anybody has suggestions?

I was wondering if any of the Malaysians here could recommend a good Malaysian restaurant in Munich in which the flavour has not been too watered down too much for local tastes. I have some friends who are going to Malaysia (including Borneo) for a trip soon and I think they should try to get themselves acclimatised. I also have a craving for a good hot laksa. Any suggestions?
imagine99
hi smile.gif

So glad to know that there are Singaporeans in Munich. Been here for 1mth, havent seen any working Singaporean... Should we arrange a meet up on Monday, 15/8? look forward.

cheers
SarahKT

Yeah, me too. Never seen it in Munich, and would probably bet my left arm that nowhere would serve a good one anyway. sad.gif

Never seen Malay food here either. Maybe we should open a restaurant and try to teach people what good food is all about, Malay style.

A newspaper (forgot which one) recently ran a favorable review of this place:

http://www.champor.de/

Supposed to be the first Malaysian restaurant in Munich. Haven't tried it myself, so I have no clue if it is good. Doesn't seem to have Laksa on the menu, though.
zimmer
if you're talking about Katong laksa, Prima Deli has "prepacked" ones (also prepacked Chicken rice i.e. the "ingredients", not the chicken and rice). they are really good. sometimes my Mum will mail me... if anyone is going to Singapore or coming from Singapore, get them to bring some! *HUNGRY*
OnPAR
I usually make my own Laksa...hate asian restaurants here. I found that taking the trouble to make my own stuff beats anything any day.
More tea, Vicar?

Don/Jeff

Its probably a very poor man's substitute, but I always pick up one or two carry-out thingeys from Wok and Roll just on the corner of the Bridge by Isartor.

Nice family run the restaurant, and if you have a chat, they sometimes throw in a bag of pork crisps for free.

Alternatively, there's a good Thai on Fraunstraße, top of the Food Market.

But I suppose for food afficionado's like you two, this won't wash.
Andy101
Sorry (Don riina) I am back for good now. I have been preparing my business setup since last time i updated for the cooking recipe.

You guys should'nt have mentioned duck noodles... when i was back in Sg i have reminded myself to try the one called 9 crook 13 turns (cantonese slang of that special road in pasir panjang) but simply forgotten about it!
Why8
Hi folks,

Just fyi - Inlingua Sprachschule (http://www.inlingua.de/) is looking for a teacher to teach Malay language. Ring them up if you can do that, or pass on the info to some friends who might want to come over and do teaching here.

Mr Andy101!! Great to see you are back man smile.gif 9 cook 13 turns? Whats that in cantonese then? Is that referring to that nasty road down the hill? South Buena Vista Road or something like that.

BTW, I saw some TV program last week, a food show where the presenter was in Singapore. Made me soooooo damned hungry. In fact, I am now seriously hungry just thinking about it. I NEED to get some fresh crabs man.

Oh i think it should be the Singapore food festival and i was there this year smile.gif Yup and it was so crowded! Dripping saliva...do u mean french crabs or english crabs? i have seen these two but just have tasted french crab in Mangosteen early this year on sunday brunch. It would be nice for me to prepare spicy crab with peanut curry sauce! but if you like to know the recipe for Singapore pepper crab just ask for it!

Hello there,

I am from Singapore too, just arrived in Munich about 2 weeks ago.

I realised last post on this topic is last year November. Are you guys still around?
zen10
yeah same here...any SG or MSIA people around?
jml
Hey just some friendly advice...consider organising a meetup, pick a specific time, date and place and see if others Malays or Singaporeans are interested and available to join you...its what the other national groups do smile.gif
SarahKT
jml, I am Malaysian but I am no Malay!! Malays are a race in Malaysia and are nearly all the time Muslims. I am neither one of those.

I may be interested to join if you guys hold a gathering or some sort. smile.gif
zen10
Okie...so how many are interested if we plan such meet up???
artyca
count me in! I just arrived here in Munich last Sunday for a 2-year working stint.
I'm a Malaysian by the way...
Hope to make some friends over here...
patng1402
Seems like most people are quite keen.

How about a gathering this coming Wednesday? Maybe dinner at 6pm? For the place, I suggest Gieselastrasse. Any other suggestion?
SarahKT
I am up for it. smile.gif
patng1402
Hello there,

So are there anyone else besides SarahKT and me?
