Hello People,

We are a young married couple (no kids, yet!) who have a potential job opportunity to work in Rosenheim for a year. We'll be moving in from US and working for a small engineering firm in Thansau. We are looking for getting some advise on these topics: a) relocation expenses, b) monthly living expenses, c) apartment rental prices (furnished ones), d) advance/deposit for apartment, e) the need to own a car.

Many thanks in advance.

(And because it's so early and I'm grumpy - it's "advice" not "advise" tongue.gif )

Can't help with a)

cool.gif You need to know what size house you want etc

c) Furnished is not so easy to find here. Probably about 1000 to 1500 depending on size.

d) Three months rent

e) Totally

There are a few English native speakers near Rosenheim but not many. I've not actually met that many but we do keep threatening a get together. It really is out in the country but is a stunning beautiful place. Munich and Salzburg both only an hour away.

a) Ask the company to pay
b) Highly variable
c) Depends on size of property, have a look at ImmoScout24 for ideas
d) Usually two months' rent as deposit and potentially another 2 months' rent for the agent
e) In theory no, but it seems your new company is in the arse-end of nowhere, so unless you can get a ride-share sorted out with a colleague, you may have no choice.

Thanks for the response. Please allow me to rephrase my questions.

a) Are 2500 euro enough for relocation expenses,
b) Can 1000 euros cover monthly living expenses,
c) Can I find a decent apartment to rent for 5-600 euros,

Thanks again.

For you and your wife?

That's really pushing it.

If you want furnished I'd even go as far as saying no.

Thanks to your feedback I can now make a more informed decision about our forthcoming trip. Will keep you posted, and hopefully we will see each-other in Rosenheim sometime.
