Hi everyone,

As some of you already know that I am running the Darmstadt marathon this year on 6th September.

I was just wondering if there was anyone else running either the Darmstadt or Frankfurt marathon this year who would like to exchange training experiences and tips and maybe meet up for training runs if schedules allow?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Run regularly, get miles under your belt, but - most importantly - don't overtrain

:-)

Hi Bryan,

Greece sounds good and would love to swop tips. This is my first marathon as well. I am pretty excited at the moment.

Are you planning to do any half marathons in the build up? There is one in Oberursel on 20th July that I will probably do if you want to join me. Jonnyboy perhaps you might also fancy a day out of this one?

Training is taking up a fair bit of time at the moment. I am currently running 4 times a week with a long run on Sundays.

Would love to, but am coming back from my italian cycling adventure on that day. Is that the one we thought of doing last year that is actually half in / around a forest?
Purple Muffin
Oh I think I am going insane it is actually on the 13th July which means you'll be in Italy cycling (jealous about that). I don't think it is the same one as the other one was Brunnenfestlauf. This one is in Stierstadt. Here is the registration info for anyone who might be interested.

Best of Luck Purple Muffin.

Just put in the mileage, steadily increasing it week by week, but do not overtrain as you need to let the body rest as well. I would suggest that you plan to do a 18-19 mile run about 3-4 weeks before the marathon. Also work out the times you want to attain at 5k 10k 15k etc and stick to them. Be careful at the start as the adrenaline will be pumping and you could get pulled along at a faster pace than you have intended. Enjoy it

Hello, I'm running the Frankfurt marathon and was wondering if there is anybody - or better still a group - who wants to meet up on Sundays leading up to the main event for a 'big run'. This could be in or around Frankfurt, it makes no difference as I'll need to travel in anyhow.

Look Forward to hearing from you.

Jonnyboy and myself are both running Berlin marathon this year. Just wondering if there was anyone else training for an autumn marathon in Frankfurt and how training was going and so on.

Hi,

I'd be interested in joining up especially for the long training runs. I'm in Königstein or Bad Soden but could travel in Frankfurt. Aiming for a 4 hour or better marathon.

cheers

After the Weisbaden Ironman I am up for a marathon. Never done a full one, many half marathons though. I was going to run the Koblenz (sp???) marathon, but my flight back from the states was late and I couldn't make it in time.

Lovely I'd be willing to travel too. However if you are training for sub 4 you might find my pace a little slow! Perhaps you could go out with jonnyboy.

The Wiesbaden Ironman is a half distance isn't it 2km swim 90 bike and then a half marathon? I am trying so hard to gear myself up for a triathlon. I always said marathon before I was 30 so now before I am 40 (although long way to go) it should be Ironman. We'll see. Swimming is my worst I am just a terrible swimmer.

I watched the Ironman on TV many times, always said it would by cool to do one.
I got to Germany back in January, saw the Wiesbaden half Ironman one, and said, OK, I am in.

1.9k swim, 90k bike, 21k run.

Just like that.

and...paying 220 Euro for the entrance fee.

I will be up for any marathons afterwards.

is it too late to join in with the group? I just moved to frankfurt last tuesday, and would love to meet some new people and enjoy a fun run! let me know! thanks!
220€ blimey! I am about to get myself a road bike so will be going for a tri next year for sure.

1.9km swim? I don't believe I could manage that my swimming is rubbish. I mean really bad. In fact I only learnt to swim last year so probably not surprising.
