This year on Saturday 19th July the third Reebok Runner's World Women's Run will take place in Frankfurt. It is an event for women only but not just for runners - there is no reason why people cannot walk the distance and many people do. There is a 'Wellness Village' offering massages, beauty tips and spa treatments before and after the event. It is a nice girlie day out. There is a 5km and and 8km fun run.
When: Saturday 19th July 2008. 'Wellness Village' opens at 1pm. 5km race starts at 4:30pm, 8km race at 5:30pm. I think it would be nice if we could make an afternoon of it.
Where: Start and finish at Freibad Stadion, Mörfelder Landstraße 362, 60528 Frankfurt am Main Stadionbad Website, tram 21 or bus 61 to Stadion
How much: 18€ regular entry, 15€ for concessions. If we can register a group of 5 then we get one place free making the price 14,50€ each. It would be nice if we could get a few groups together.
What you get for your money: The price includes start fee, free entry into wellness village and use of the open air pool afterwards for relaxing with a few cocktails. You also get a race T Shirt which since this is a Women's Run is actually fitted, a decent size and something you can wear again instead of the usual XL tent type T Shirts given out at every other race that can only ever be used as nighties (I have a drawer full if anyone can use them for something). You also get a pair of running socks although I have not seen these so cannot confirm style/quality.
How to register: Please express your interest on the thread and indicate whether you want to run the 5k or 8k and I will contact you via PM for the payment details and T Shirt/sock size. The deadline for registrations is 4th July. I would like to register the groups before then as am going on holiday so please let me know and arrange payment by Monday 30th June at the latest. Anybody who wants to register after that date can do so directly on the site.
There are a few people interested already so lets try and make this one a big event this year.
Come on girls you know you want to get your trainers out - running is great for the figure.
@ the boys no you CANNOT run. There is nothing to stop you coming to watch and cheer though. We could probably do with somebody to mind the bags (Prob +1 is quite good at this)
Look forward to seeing lots of you there.
