Hi there. I am planning on visiting Berlin for a few days around Silvester. This will involve my wife and I traveling up from Thuringia and possibly several of my friends arriving from around Europe.

I'm currently trying to work out how long to stay for, what we should try to see, where we should stay etc. I'd appreciate any and all advice from local residents.

For example, is it worthwhile going to the 'official' Brandenburg gate meetup, or is there a more comfortably cosy venue elsewhere?

Also, am I planning too early or too late? ;-)
