I need to buy some German sausages that are similar to Irish sausages. I have no idea which ones to get.
The only sausages I have tried here, have a spicy taste to them. I need them be pork. Does anyone know any that are similar and where to buy them?!
I spent a lot of money on imported Irish sausages but think that I may have left them out of the freezer too long when I bought them (i had to take a long journey home, about 3 hours unfortunately). I did refreeze them but think it's not worth the risk and now I need replacement sausages.
HELP!

there are no German sausages that are similar to Irish ones, German sausages actually have meat in them.
Try buying some bangers from these guys

make your own there are hundreds of recipes and you can chat up a butcher to sell you skins. Ive started doing this and have learned fairly quickly. Its fun too

Milk, if you want to taste some real Irish sausage in Germany,
No, I can't bring myself to finish that sentence.
I need them for tonight..
so I can't make them and I can't order them..
Something kind of similar? Just a pork sausage that's not too spicy. Something that goes well in bangers and mash.
Any ideas?
I'll ignore that second comment!

Ok, proper answer then. The ones I buy here are called Bruzzlers I think. A fair bit bigger than the likes of Denny and whatnot but quite nice.
Edit: Yup, got the name almost right.

You could try Nürnbergers, but there really not going to be the same.

Aldi also do Bratwurst in their fresh meat section. Never had them myself, but they're definitely pork...

Nürnbergers are what I use for making sausage rolls and they taste ok. Not as good as the homemade ones from home, but at least getting in the right directiion.

They look ok.
What store can I get those in?
Thanks for the replies everyone..
I was thinking of eating the Olhausen myself and giving my friends the choice of risking food poisoning... oh god that's terrible.
Here choose between German sausages or food poisoning!

Any supermarket should have them. Go for the minis if you can find them.
You know Olhausen was a German, yeah?
No I didn't know that. But the sausages are definetly Irish.
Thanks for your help.

A small point and probably not important but those Bruzzler sausages are not pork, they're poultry. Shouldn't stop them tasting ok, may even improve them, after all I buy wieners made from turkey and they taste good. I might give them things a try actually!

If you want them spicy go for rohe Bratwurst. They are roughly the same as Nürnberger Bratwürstl but not par-boiled, therefore pink, not gray.
I want them mild, like boring old Irish sausages. They need to go with a red onion gravy/marmalade.

no idea how old this is...but a quick google and apparantly there's a british food store in Berlin that sells sausages
http://www.berlinfo.com/Lifetime/Shopping/...itish/index.htmI'm assuming the Irish ones are similar?!

You're worrying far, far, too much.
Fresh bratwurst will do fine - they're not "spicy" in the English sense of the word, meaning "hot"; just spicy, as in, they have a few spices in them. Seriously, they'll be fine with a red onion confit, are fine with gravy, and fine with mash.
Yeah I know, I am worrying too much!
That's where I bought the Irish sausages. in the Broken English store.

oh ok, so I don't get it, why don't you go there to get some more?
But I agree with don, the bratwurst will taste fine with it too.
I find if I want to get sausages for making a fry what I used to do is buy really cheap rohe bratwurst. The cheaper they are the less spices/herbs they have in them (ie bland) so they taste more like british sausage.

Because I am very poor right now and can't afford them. I also can't afford to take the train to Kreuzberg and back

I have 32 Irish sausages sitting in the freezer but I shouldn't use them because I had them out of the freezer for a few hours then put back in.. silly me but I had no choice.

Milk now i know that ssounds daft but if you can ever find soem sausages called 'blaue syphill' get em and try them.It transaltes literally as blue willise but they are good.Very meaty ,now i know that some of the posters on here are gonna have a laugh out of them but these sausages are hard to find and taste a lotl like cumberland sausages
So what happened...did you cook the Irish ones or get some more & how did they turn out? Or are you now in hospital having decided to eat the Irish ones anyway???

I went to both Kaisers and Lidl and I couldn't find any of the sausages mentioned so I bought small Nurnberger ones and large white bratwurst. My friends ate them and liked them but I don't really like the taste of them so I also cooked a few of the Irish sausages and I was fine and another person ate the Irish sausages and was ok too (she knew what she was getting herself in for!). I felt a bit iffy today but I think that is all of the Sternberg i drank after...

Yeah, I know I'm a little late on this one, but I've found a good German wurst alternative to British sausages in Edeka.
They're Frische Bratwurst, and if I remember rightly, they're also part of Edeka's Gut & Günstig range

You should find them in the cool section, along with all the other wurst, near the butcher.
Man our local Edeka's butcher/fishmonger/cheese counter drives me up the damn wall, but thats another story (Germany is definately a Servicewüst)...
Anyway... They look just like British sausages, in that the skin is thin, and they look pink inside (unlike alot of German wurst, which as we all know look white or grey). But unlike British sausages, as has been pointed out before, they actually have meat inside

Last time we bought some, I think we got 5, for about €1.65 or so.
They're not spicy, and grill very well. They also go very well with Tesco's own brand French Mustard. Or fried and put in a roll with a fried egg and brown sauce
