We are an established group of around a half dozen writers in Berlin and we're looking for new blood! We generally write fiction; aside from that, there are no rules, no borders, no limits! We meet once a week on Mondays at Gorki Park, Weinbergsweg 25. Map here: http://gorki-park.de/gorki-park/lageplan/

The usual course of a meeting goes like this:

We get started with a short writing exercise, usually around fifteen to twenty minutes, generally based on whatever random prompt one of us has just come up with off the top of our heads. After time runs out, we go around the group and read what we've got.

After that we do a critique of one or two member pieces, aimed at giving the writers feedback and constructive criticism on their work. The pieces usually go out the weekend before, and are generally 2-3000 words in length. They can be standalone works or pieces of a larger whole. They can be finished products or works-in-progress. The object is to share ideas, find weak/strong spots and generally improve what we're producing.

The final bit is the famed ninja round, during which one group member gets to promote their own idea of a writing exercise. This can be another creative writing prompt, but it could also be a mechanics exercise. You could write an entire story in second-person tense! Just like a real ninja, the ninja round is illusory and transcendent. We generally allot forty-five minutes to an hour to this portion, depending on the length of the crit and the ninja concept.

We're usually done by ten o' clock with the writing work, and after that it's time to get down to Phase Two: imbibing alcohol. We are at a bar, right?
