A favourite UK brand of tea

All this chat about English food at Lidl(Some of which looks a bit iffy to me, but anyway) if you want to get PG Tips at a good price in Berlin go to Wrangelstr, Kreuzberg 36.
There's an Asian food shop, near the church end(opposite from the Skalitzer Str end) on the right. 40 PG tips for 1.99! Ain't bad! Plus he does them in sizes of 80, 120, & 160
plus he does Asda Tea Bags too. Can't beat a proper cup of tea. Also Heinz Baked Beans at Ostbahnhof for 89 cents & Karstadt for 1 litre Merrydown cider for 2.99!!
Still miss Real Ale though & a game of cricket!

Try Broken English - they have a couple of shops in Berlin:

www.brokenenglish.de

They are Eur 14.95 for 240 pyramid bags

Another place is in Potsdam, just of Brandenburger Str. They usually have a sign out, pointing you down a side street where they can be found after about 50m on the right.

Seriously, just go to any tea shop and ask for a Ceylon/Assam mix. They'll probably even be able to offer you something called an "Englische Mischung". It will taste better and cost less than imported PG Tips. If you've realised that real ale is better than lager, then you are in a good position to make the same logical leap with regards to tea.

The Asia Laden in Hauptstrasse, Schoneberg, opposite the big post office, sells PG Tips in 40s or 80s. Bit of a mark-up - 40 teabags costs two euros eighty cents, which is a bit cheeky, but hey, what's an English lad to do? There's been times - after yet another cup of crap 'schwarzer tee" - when I would have happily sold my soul for one PG teabag. Sad, but true.
The same place also sells HP Sauce, Worcester sauce and Marmite...
Nearest U-Bahn is Eisenacherstr, nearest bus stop Kaiser-Wilhelm Platz...

Actually, I've tried these mixes at tea shops and none of them seem strong enough for me to make a real English cuppa! I do get sick of PG Tips every now and then, but it does, unfortunately, seem to be the closest one can get to normal English tea, here in Berlin anyway. Many Asian supermarkets all over Berlin sell it. One can also get PG Tips tea leaves (as opposed to bags), which is better.

i have also seen PG tips bags and loose in the asian food shop on alexanderplatz (it's in the same building as new yorker i think.)
they are very overpriced though..

Asia Shop just off Schönhauser Allee (the street where the cinema is, just at Schönhauser Allee U-bahn) has PG tips and HP sauce, Heinz baked beans and Lea and Perrins Worchester Sauce. Was in there yesterday.

They have PG Tips in vast range of sizes in the Indian grocery store on Fuldastrasse, Neukölln, too. (opposite church) Bourbon biscuits and ginger biscuits too!

I'd recommend TS Foods (11 Stromstrasse, right near Turmstrasse).

They're not really a retail place. Most of their business comes from selling to Indian restaurants and resellers. As a result, the prices are pretty good.

PG Tips are not my favourite - we usually import from Ireland or England when we visit.

However we ran out last week, so I bought PG Tips in the small Asian Market shop on Kieler Str - small street, just off Schloss Str in Steglitz. Get off U9 Schloss Str, or S1 Rathaus Steglitz.

A pack of 300 PG Tip are selling for 9.99 euro.

Bloody good tip there Colin - works out far cheaper than shelling out €2,99 - 3,29 in the Asia shops around town for 40 - They're even TWO cup
T-bags...!!
