I'm about to sign up for a gym.
It's not fancy but quite ok, and best of all located nearby my home. But it's so frigging expensive! Monthly cost is between 90-70, depending on how long you sign up. On top of it you pay a one-timer of 149 for the coach.

Is this a total rip-off? Or am I just cheap and clueless about the real world out there?

Please give me some advice since I have to cancel my contract tomorrow if I want to change my mind about it!!!

I pay 61€ a month for access to all Elixia clubs in München, so 90 seems very expensive.

Yes. 90 if when you sign up for two months only. It gets cheaper and cheaper, but about 70 is the chapest I think, when you buy the 18 months package.

*sigh*

Anyone happen to know a nice gym around glockenbachviertel - tal?

I had been a member at STEFAN's SPORT CENTER for 2 years. I have a special membership fee because of the company i work for. The first year i paid 60 euros per month and 100 euros as one time payment for god knows what !.
I terminated my contract after the first year and then i restarted after 3 months. The second time i paid only 50 euros a month.

So as u can see, ur are def on the higher side and the rates are highly negotiable.

Yes.

On the other hand - if I would find a gym for lets say 50 instead of 70, that would save me a 240 per year - thats only 3 mass per month... smile.gif

There's lots of gym info in Gyms and sports clubs in Munich. You might find an alternative near your place in it.

McFit is only 16.90 a month. It's very basic though, no pool, no classes, you have to pay 50c for the showers, but to hell with paying 90 euros a month!

Thanks for the thread -

I guess it sums up in "you get what you're willing to pay for..!"

( I don't want loose weights - i want machines, cardiostuff, yogaclasses... all the girls stuff.)

I think I will have to look for the even more expensive places so I can feel less bad about paying so much money. (After all, I could also just pull myself together and start do push-ups in the morning so I feel a bit stupid actually paying for getting fit in the first place.)

I signed Body up diva on the Munich Hauptbahnhof... http://www.bodyup.de/Hauptbahnhof/Home.aspx
girls only, nice place, very modern machines, sauna etc...
they offer fitness *with tv on the machines for running, jogging and steppers), and all sorts of group activities / yogga, pilates, aerobics, body pump, etc etc... and I think also belly dancing

all time access 71 eur per month... you get the first hour with a trainer to determine your goals and make a plan for training *free, then I had a checkup 4 weeks later (still free) and adjusting the plan... and I have received 1 hour individual discussion with the Diet specialist on food...

I really like it there, staff very friendly, etc (I must admit I don-t go there very often, but this is because of my lazyness and not for anything else)

Hi Maja,

That sounds exactly like the place I'm thinking about actually. And the price is very comparable too.

Actually, I'm getting more and more convinced about my gym now - the best thing is that it's on the way to work, so I can just sneak in there in the morning. No extra effort whatsoever.
(I have actually free access to another gym, but it's more than half an hour away, changing trams and stuff, so I just don't go there.)
