Hi, (i might regret saying this, but...)
I'd like to have another day/night of raquet sports during the week, and was wondering if there was any other groups that play that people know of. tbh i don't really mind if it's bad, squash or something else, i'd just like to be active. I pick up most games pretty quickly, only problem is my germans not great. Any info i'd appreciate it,

How about another badminton night? I for one would be up for another during the week... My SF/Vegas trip turned into a steak/burger/KFC fest and I need to burn the 10 lbs I put on during the holidays

(plus the 10 I already needed to get rid of!)

As long as we dont get into any 'alternative' nights! Maybe we should start a post-holiday fitness club!
I dont mind when it is, Monday would prob be good, or saturday in the day. any day apart from thur and fri night really!

Understatement of the year ?

Away in a manger, no crib for his bed
The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing,
The poor baby wakes,
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes;
I love thee, Lord Jesus,
Look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle till mornight is nigh
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever and love me, I pray!
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care
And take us to heaven to live with thee there.

Jan 17 2005, 5:17 pm
@ chewy & madgibson - did you try out the new place on Saturday? how was it?
BTW peeps - status as of today is that we only have one court next week from 7-8pm, although we have the usual three from 8-9pm
I am phoning every day to see if there is a cancellation so we can get an extra court from 7-8pm, but as it stands, I guess we should restrict it to those 6 people currently signed up for 7-9pm:
Chewy
Guattang
IW + 1

If I can manage to get another court we can open up the 7-8 slot again, I'll keep you posted. There's still plenty of room for the 8-9pm courts.

Ok, i think me and anabi are agreed on our opinons but here u go
Location: It may be 3 mins extra on the tram, but it'ss till quicker to get to. It took about 3-5 mins to walk to it. It's in a quiet neighbourhood, and looks like its been converted from barns or something similar. we were standing next to it and couldn't work out what it was! Right on the corner thu. There is definately street parking, i didnt notice a car park (anabi?). There is also a garage at the tram stop for emergency food and drink.
Court status: good condition, floor not as soft (but i didn't graze my knees and i was really skidding!) You could see the lines properly, the nets were good (a few holes but nothing more than the other place. Ceilings were nice and high, i think we once hit the ceiling and thats cos anabi was trying to! The lights wern't blinding either! There are at least two halls, each with 4 courts, possibly more.
Cost: 16€ for one hour, (although they dont turn the lights off so we played for about 1.5 hrs). she did ask if i had a student card so this may have knocked 10% off, but it was still a lot cheaper than the other place.
Facilities: The changing rooms were smaller, but very clean. (i think there was second lot of changing rooms as well.) As were the showers. There was even a 'private' shower bit. I was impressed with the cleanliness. There were lockers although we couldn't find them (she told us where they were but our germans crap).
Restruant: We sat in the aftermath area and it looked very good, smart tables. Beer was 2.50€ i didnt check out the food menu, but the tables were set with cutlery. we spent over an hour in there.
Shop: they have a small shop that wasn't open when we were there.
Overall: The place looked very smart, and was well looked after. Everyone was really friendly. There was a tournament going on in the hall next to us, and we even watched a few of their games. I would definately recommend this place.

Same here for Sundays... @chewy - good summary of the "new" spot... agree totally (and I'm sure somewhere in the place there *are* lockers). And the lower cost was nice (especially if we start playing twice a week, which could drive the badminton budget to around 100/month!).
Damn, bummer on this week... well an hour would be better than none

It looks like skating is gonna be a weekly thing at 4-6 on a sunday, so i'd rather do it on a monday. But if we were unable to get courts on a monday, then i guess i can alternate.

I went to the other badminton place a few times and it is a good venue too as Chewy explained.
At least you dont get to see naked guys running around between dressing rooms.

I have decided to take the plunge and come down for an hour between 8 and 9. Dont expect me to move much and I WILL NOT SMASH.
Funny badminton excuses ...
* You never said go!
* The lights were in my eyes.
* I couldn’t concentrate because you were giving me dirty looks.
* The floor was slippery.
* The net moved on me.
* My foot fell asleep.
* There was a draft coming from somewhere.
* My new shirt was itchy.
* Aren't we still rallying?
* Oh...have we started the real game?
I just want to leave you with a picture that could represent a few of us and our competitve nature.
