sorry about the delayed reply, I am still interested in playing so please don't give up the dauerbooking. It's just that last weeks everybody was gone, so I quit checking the thread. Hope things get on the right track though

Sorry, Nomis, we don't seem to have been lucky recently.
Thanks for getting the booking, I think / hope we'll manage to get up to speed soon.
It would certainly help if IW, for instance, could get the home page sorted.

while you're just tuning the page, just a short notice regarding the image, especially useful for newcomers. The entrance is actually from Zielstattstrasse, and not as it is displayed in the img.
thanks IW

The TT Badminton page is up-to-date with details of Sports4You where we are now playing (after the closure of RSC in
Laim). Sports4You is a bit more modern than RSC was, and I've yet to see anyone hit the roof with a shuttle.

I have a cold at the moment, but provided it clears up by Thursday & 4+ people want to play, I'd be up for it.

I will be off for the next 3 weeks, unfortunately.
I've just received an e-mail from Nomis, saying that he is cencelling all the bookings due to lack of interest.
Clearly, interest has been very low this summer, but I think we have a better chance of it picking up after the summer.
I think we should give it a go again in the autumn: I'll get in touch when I'm back from my holiday.
All the best,
Colin.

saying that he is cencelling all the bookings due to lack of interest.
Correct. I have already cancelled the fixed Toytown booking with Sports4You on Thursday evenings because most weeks there have not been enough people to play.
That means there are no courts booked for this Thursday.
I am now playing
touch rugby instead on Thursday evenings instead but if someone wants to set up a fixed booking again then PM me and I can give you the details -- it was not difficult.

I have been in Munich for about 1 month now, and I have been monitoring this link because I am a badminton fanatic. However, I noticed it seems to be very sparsely visited, so I never put much faith into it. I used to play competitive university level badminton, but now am on a slow decline downwards, and I would like to halt that decline. If this TT group doesn't pan out, does anybody here know of any good places for somebody like me to just drop in and play some decent badminton? I live in Munich (Ostbahnhof/Haidhausen) and work up north along the S1 line.

i am looking into playing with
them.. it's closer to my house and the club looks pretty competitive.
arch, look into your
local sports club. if they don't have it, maybe near your work.

Who is up for a game next week? Don't mind which day, as the nights are drawing in and the weather is pretty sucky... I'd like to start badminton again.
Anyone fancy a knock about?

Monday is good for me. You care where we play? Park Nymphenburg is a pretty good place?!?
Any other takers? I don't mind playing a couple of times in the week either...
planetmoni
Sep 6 2007, 11:29 am
yes! (any weekday is fine, monday is my least favourite but i could cope)
maybe make it depending on when Park is free?
Would be good to get this rolling again. I should be OK for any day next week, just post a link to the chosen venue when something's booked & I'll confirm.

Nymphenburg ain't great for me as it's really difficult to get to for me after work, other side of the city, traffic is a nightmare. It would need to 7.30 earliest. The sports4you would be better for me!

that's my line for sports4you, it is really difficult for me to get there, it's not a nice neighbourhood where i feel safe walking from the sbahn to the sports center in the dark (and it is getting dark earlier), other side of town...

It is difficult to get a court somewhere convenient on a Monday-Thursday evening because that is when regular players, competitions and clubs already play.
Sometimes when I tried to get a court at Park Club Nymphenburg I found that SV
Neuhausen had reserved every court, every night. And Sports4You was often already fully-booked for the next two weeks when I called to try and get a court for a Wednesday or Thursday night.
Maybe playing during the day on Saturday or Sunday is better, because demand for courts is lower and there are less problems with people trying to rush to play after work?

Hello.
To those who have put their names down: as far as I am aware, there is no badminton booked this week, or indeed for any future weeks at present, unfortunately.
We will try to get things going again shortly.
The problem during the summer has been too little interest: hopefully that might change with the weather!
Watch this space!

Well, are here some activities about the Thursday night games?
I really would like to know whether or not it is necessary to swing by.
With me 3 players doesn't make sense to play. So I'll be democracy and join you next time wit 4 players.
Have fun tomorrow :-)

Hi Gabriel and PeWa:

Ask at reception for the court no., then meet on the court: The court is in my name, White.

How many people typically show up for the games? Also, what are the skill levels? I'm advanced and looking for another group of intermediate - advanced players to play with.
Best,

Bit difficult to say at the moment, as we've recently changed venue and are trying to get up to speed / numbers again.
At the moment, it's the more the merrier: Feel free to come along, tonight included!

The good thing there: One Sauna and a Italian Restaurant is integrated inside of Sports4You :-)
My work is on the opposite side of Sports4You. So I am going to play with colleagues sometimes there and hang out for couple hours easily.
See you tonight :-)

Oct 11 2007, 1:57 pm
btw, sports4you moved on to winter prices; badminton got a little more expensive than before, but tennis prices almost doubled.
added: I recommend one of those 10-er Karte; costs only 60€ and for regular playing ensures a significant discount
PeWa74
Oct 11 2007, 2:40 pm
However, I don't even care about the price :-). I just wanna move my body around...
10er Blocks = 60 Euros it's fine for me...
I our case tonight with 4 players: 1 hour = 4 blocks = 24 Euro = each 6 Euro.
Regular price: 1 hour = 27 Euro = each 6.75 Euro ... well fine for me too.
And Sauna is included...actually in both cases f***** cheap :-)))

So, no badminton this week, I'm afraid.
But it's going to be cold and dark enough to be thinking of badminton again shortly.
I've booked for 8th November, 1st November would be an additional possibility, anyone interested, if they're not moving flat, signing flat contract, playing
touch rugby, etc., etc.?
I've been fielding internet enquiries from people in Singapore and South Africa, some of whom may actually turn up: we don't know how lucky we are here!
We did have a block booking, but not the interest to turn up in the summer: I thought we could try to make a go of it again.
What do you think?
