even though I am leaving soon, I am very much in favour of this venue - it's 12 minutes on the 51 bus from Moosach

I would join on a regular basis if you played at the venue mentioned above (live in Moosach) ... not a professional badminton player though, but enjoy bier afterwards!

After playing at the Park Club in Nymphenburg last Wednesday suds asked the lady at the front desk if they have courts free each Wednesday or Thursday. In general they do not -- the neighbouring sports club usually books all courts and we were simply lucky last week because of the holiday. So we cannot play at Park Club each week.
Maybe we should try playing at Sports4You in
Obersendling instead? I know it is not so convenient for the majority of people who live around Neuhausen/Schwabing but it may be the best we can get and they *do* have courts available.
An alternative is to play during the day on weekends? Then buses are more frequent, or people can cycle to Obersendling. Courts at Park Club Nymphenburg are also available on weekends.
I do not have time to quickly organise everything at a new place this week but will get everything organised for playing again next week. So, if you want to play this week can you please organise it yourselves.

Thanks for the summary, Nomis.
Pity about the Park Club.
Personally, I'd prefer the regular badminton slot to remain mid-week - either Wednesday or Thursday evening - rather than the weekend when there are too many other things going on.
No time to take on any organisation duties either this week.

awwwww as there is no badminton this week, I won't be able to make any more, as I have a guest over on my last Thursday in Munich. I have really enjoyed the games I have played with you guys. Thankyou for putting up with my 'moments' both great and awfull ones and for one of the hottest games ever!

I wont be playing this Thursday or the following Thursday, as I want to focus on touch for the upcoming tournament. I am ok for playing next Wednesday however.

I know I haven't been along for a long time but I would be happy to play badminton during the day at the
weekend as this is more convenient for me - so should you get anything organised for then - I will join
you every two weeks or so. If not, well I'll try and get along again if it is not too too hot.
Back from my travels. Still interested in playing Badminton week-day evenings. Count me in once a venue is fixed (provided it's U-/S-bahn accessible).

Neither Sports4You not Park Club Nymphenburg have any courts free this Thursday, so we have nowhere to play this week either. Seems like I will have to book a court a week in advance to have any chance. So, I will call and book a court for next Thursday (28th June) at Sports4You in anticipation of getting enough people to play. If there are not enough people, then I can easily cancel the court.

I booked one court at Sports4You (Zielstattstr. 61,
Obersendling) for next Thursday (28th June) from 7pm - 8:30pm. It is half an hour shorter than what we usually play but it was all that was available. If we can get four or five people signing up for next week, then that would be ideal.

hi! I am back

i would like to play this week but i cannot guarantee i can be there at 7pm. my office is at an exhibition and i am not sure when i can leave.
Hasn't the RSC just closed down?

yes, i read the badminton archive and nomis organised a court somewhere else this week.

Jun 25 2007, 7:35 pm
That's right. I have booked one court at Sports4You (Zielstattstr. 61) from 7pm-8:30pm for this Thursday. If it is OK, then I can try to
get a permanent booking so we can be sure of getting some courts every week.
And here is a link to a map of Sports4You (the sports centre is set back from the street with the entrance next to the 'Plus' supermarket):
http://www.toytowngermany.com/forum/index...st&id=50210It is about 10 minutes walk from U3
Obersendling. Buses 53 (Zielstattstr.) and 133 (Murnauer Str.) stop just around the corner
from the sports centre.

when and where are we playing this week?
thanks
nomis
Jul 2 2007, 8:19 am
The new place we played last week (Sports4You) seemed acceptable -- the courts were OK and the roof was high enough.
Afterwards I tried to get courts for this week (on Wednesday or Thursday) but all time slots had been booked. There were still courts available on both days before we played but now I realise that other people were booking the next week ahead as they arrived to play and that's why we missed out...
So we cannot play this week.
I am trying to setup a permanent booking with Sports4You so we are sure of getting courts each week.

Aye, thanks for trying to sort this out. Any chance of getting a court at Park Nymphenburg on Wednesday??

Jul 2 2007, 7:00 pm
I called Park Club in Nymphenburg. They had a court available this Wednesday (4th July) from 18:45 to 20:45 so I booked it.
Who else is up for playing on Wednesday?
And here is a link to a previous post showing where the Park Club is:

I just spoke to the person at Sports4You in
Obersendling in charge of court bookings.
They do not have any courts available on Wednesday evenings. Other groups already have block bookings for all courts.
But they do have courts free on Thursday evenings and it is possible for us to have a permanent booking of two courts from 7pm-9pm, with the possibility of cancelling courts at no cost on Wednesdays (like at RSC).
The first Thursday that courts are available is 19th July.
I said I would check with other people and then call back tomorrow. But it all seems OK to me, so I am going to go ahead and set up the Thursday booking.

I was feeling lonely checked in for Wednesday on the normal page, so I looked over on the discussion page just now ... and here you all are! See you tomorrow!
Thursdays are normally OK for me, though I have visitors staying next week so won't be able to make it.

Jul 9 2007, 8:49 pm
Can't you play on one foot -- it is not like you ever run much when you play anyway.
I have now setup the permanent booking at Sports4You. Starting on July 19th we are guaranteed two courts each Thursday from 7pm to 9pm.
But Sports4You is fully booked this Wednesday and Thursday so there is no chance of playing there this week.
Bet you're hopping mad Moni.
Nomis, I hope to re-start badminton 26th July, I have visitors staying 'til then.

is everybody away on holidays?
nomis
Jul 17 2007, 11:34 am
I am going away for one week on Thursday so I cannot play this week or next week.
I can organise the courts for this Thursday if other people want to play.
But I cannot do this for next Thursday (26.07) because I will still be away. Is anyone else willing to do it? (you call Sports4You on Wednesday lunchtime if we need less than two courts from 7pm-9pm so the sports centre can give the courts to other people). If not, I will cancel next Thursday too.
And remember that we are playing at Sports4You now that RSC Nymphenburg is closed.
nomis
Jul 18 2007, 12:09 pm
I cancelled the courts for this Thursday (19.07) and next Thursday (26.07). Hopefully after that, people will be back from holiday, or recovered from injury.

@PP
I think originally it wasn't possible to get courts on Thurs. evenings (so they switched to Wed.) but in the meantime nomis has managed to secure Dauerplätze on Thursdays. Reckon IW can change the details. I think they are now playing at Sports4you.
I'm away the next couple of weeks but should be playing again after that, as long as details of where/when it is appear here & I remember to sign up!
nomis
Aug 1 2007, 12:49 pm
Right, we now have a fixed booking of two courts from 7-9pm on Thursdays at Sports4You in
Obersendling.
It was the only place I could find, and my impression is that it is even more difficult to find a place to play in winter time (when demand is higher) so we need to keep playing and keep the booking or we will end up having nowhere to play.
And IW, are you able to change the 'Badminton @ RSC Nymphenburg' page because I cannot and I got no reply from Editor Bob about it?
