Badminton @ RSC Nymphenburg

We used to play at Park Nymphenburg on Sundays. That place was really nice and slightly cheeper but out a few more stops on the tram.

are the courts booked in the name of Toytown?

when you go in, anyone asks where you are going, say you are with Toytown.
we are on courts 40/39 which are after the men's changing rooms on the 1st floor.

I telephoned RSC and told them that for this Thursday we need one court from 7-8pm and two courts from 8-9pm.

Looks like I've missed the sign-up deadline.

I'd like to come, too. Is that OK with everyone?

It's such a pity as I was really looking forward to a few games.

OK, with fewer people we no longer need the second court, so I cancelled it. Now we have only one court (number 39) from 7pm to 9pm.

I have been looking to get out and engage in some physical activity and thought that badminton would be a good one to start with.
I must say that I have not played since I was young but I did play racquetball competitively for many years as well as a little squash. I will read over the information and sign up for Thursday and/or Sunday of the coming week.

For this Thursday we have six people for 7-8pm and then eight people from 8-9pm.

So I telephoned RSC and told them we need two courts from 7pm to 9pm. That means, everyone will be playing all the time, with no sitting out.

For anyone playing for the first time, we play on the block of courts 38-41 upstairs on the first floor. The changing rooms are also on the first floor.

As I am totally new and speak very little German….What do I need to do when I get there? Check in, pay, rent racquet, get locker…?

Ask for a Badminton Schlager from the desk. You just need to pay for the rent of the raquet not the court, if they ask you are with "Toytown". From there go upstairs to the male changing rooms. The courts are 38-41. You'll see a group speaking english, and me probably swearing in english.

If you have not been to RSC before, you will find us on the block of courts 38-41 upstairs, on the first floor -- just lookout for the people talking/shouting in English. The changing rooms are also on the first floor.

I used to play quite a bit back home but have yet to buy a racquet over here. Are the racquets for hire any good?

They will do if you want to see if you like the atmosphere there. They are bright orange so you wont be tempted to take it home.

I have pulled out for this Thursday -- I sprained my ankle and it is still too painful to run on.

I can still organise the courts though. It looks like there are already enough people for at least one court.

Sounds good to me.

I called RSC and told them that this Thursday one court is needed from 7-8pm and two courts from 8-9pm.

I often pay for the courts before we play, so someone else will have to do that this week. It will be 3 x 25 = 75 euros (or less if someone can get some sort of discount).

I might be a bit late tonight... I have a lot to cram in beforehand.

yay! I am getting into this badminton thing I brought back some better shuttles from the UK. They aren't all new, but they are pretty near it, no holes and certainly should fly in a straight line!

Are they real ones with feathers on? They go much faster and actually hurt if you cop one in the head

oh no. i need to wear face protection then.

no sadly not, I would love to play with feathers but my dad was a bit precious over them. Mainly cos they only really last for one game!

I doubt it would be a good idea for us to play with feathers.
