Wow - looks like it's going to be fun!
Hope we can get enough courts ...
Inflatablewoman
Feb 8 2006, 11:44 am
13 people for the first hour on 2 courts. :|
I think we are going to have to invent... EXTREME BADMINTON where you get 3 players on each team.
yogi_bear
Feb 8 2006, 11:53 am
:-) long gone are the days of struggling to fill two courts...
Inflatablewoman
Feb 8 2006, 11:59 am
too true.

Feb 8 2006, 12:25 pm
...as are the days of you beating me :-P
Inflatablewoman
Feb 8 2006, 12:29 pm
whatever... *head wobble*
so I looked in to getting the time, would it be worth it to make it at 8:30???
Inflatablewoman
Feb 8 2006, 1:33 pm
Honestly, nope, I dont think it would. We could maybe extend the hours we play from 7-10pm. I would not be opposed to that.
Is there anyone out there that would be willing to play on a court from 9 till 10?
Topsy
Feb 8 2006, 1:36 pm
we might have to start thinking about playing later on, actually...
either that, or moving to a new venue
because 13 people on 2 courts is just too many, I reckon, and it seems to have been that way for the last 6 weeks

Feb 8 2006, 1:38 pm
bugger, was finally gonna dig out my racquet and turn up, ah well, will try and get in early next week...

Feb 8 2006, 4:28 pm
Hardly, as there are already 22 people signed up and only 3 courts available!

22 people on 3 courts?
that's just crazy, I won't bother turning up if that's the case
I've signed up for Sunday, though, hopefully see some of you there

A question out of topic if you guys dont mind. Are the squash courts in that place easily available or do we need to book them in advance?
Actually, if sunny_me brings a +1 and walshies are in fact two people (I assume that's what the "x2" in the comment means), that makes a grand total of 24 people on three courts.
So that means doubles on one court and five-a-side on the other two.

Feb 8 2006, 4:42 pm
seriously, maybe we should look for somewhere else to play if we are gonna get such huge turnouts?
madgibson
Feb 8 2006, 4:42 pm
@The Devil
Can't imagine you'd have a problem with squash courts - there area always loads empty on Thurs. evenings. Don't know about weekends though!
Am gonna ring RSC again now and see if there are any courts available from 9-10p.m. - maybe some people could move slots. Will keep you posted.
madgibson
Feb 8 2006, 4:49 pm
Well, bad news I'm afraid. There are no more free badminton courts at all - even from 9-10p.m.!! (2 are apparently out of action because of leaky roofs - AGAIN!!) Will try again tomorrow just incase there are cancellations or the ones with leaky roofs become available.
sunny_me
Feb 8 2006, 4:50 pm
@Asq, I won't bring my +1 but still, this is crazy...there might be more people sitting out than playing on the courts!
sunny_me
Feb 8 2006, 4:57 pm
We could all wear waterproof clothes and hats and take the two courts with the leaky roofs

only kidding of course
madgibson
Feb 8 2006, 5:11 pm
Well, let's hope the roof doesn't collapse - like an awful lot of roofs lately in Bayern!!

Can anybody recommend a place with 5+ badminton courts (preferably together)? Or does anyone even know of such a place besides RSC?
Just a thought: Anybody fancy playing squash tomorrow instead?
I'll try to remember to bring an appropriate racquet just in case...

So where are you guys planning on going after the game, I dont think I can even make it until after 9. I'm still up for a drink though
Inflatablewoman
Feb 9 2006, 12:37 pm
mrbrain was waffling on about going for a beer or something, mrbrain???
Sorry, but I'm afraid I won't be playing tonight due to an upset stomach.
But looking at the numbers (even with the other cancellations) that shouldn't be a problem.
See you next week, hopefully.

Feb 9 2006, 2:40 pm
I would definately be up for playing squash instead of badminton tonight in order to cut the numbers down (+I actually prefer squash + haven't played for ages!)
at least then I would cut the badminton numbers down...

Feb 9 2006, 3:07 pm
...actually, bollocks to it, I can't be arsed to play tonight if there is that many playing, have fun people!
@mrbrain where are you thinking?? I may be heading to
The Arc anyways for poker...
mrbrain
Feb 9 2006, 3:32 pm
I imagine the group will play it by ear...
From what I understand, there isn't much in the neighborhood, so we'll have to come back into town. I imagine GM or
The Arc would be on the list of possibilities.

I'm afraid I'm wimping out too! Shame I won't get to see you Vamsi - hope all is well with you - maybe we'll meet the next time you visit.
Seems that at least 7 people have dropped out so far so at this rate the people/court ratio might not be too bad - have fun!
