Since we've got a
squash thread going, I thought I'd see if there's anyone up for a game of badminton at some point.
Note: I'm not particularly good at it, and I can never remember the rules, but at least it's a bit of exercise...

I'd be keen for a game. However, I used to be pretty good at it - played In Junior State championships, etc. Reduced fitness and a larger waistline - added to the fact that I haven't actually played in almost 10 years has undoubtably brought me back to the field though.

I'm pretty awful (without glasses I can't judge distances very well - and I hate wearing glasses) but you can count me in.

Malc, if you can't remember the rules, you can play against me... I don't think I ever knew the rules to forget them!

The only place I've played Badminton is at the
Racketpark in Haar, but as I said in the
squash thread it might be a bit too far out of town for most people.

Havn't played since I was 16 but really could do with some fitness work these days, so count me in on any badminton - do they play badminton in Germany? Always struck me that only the english and the asians play.

I'm definitely keen to play a bit - it's been ages since I hit a cock about the room, but I'm sure it'll come back to me.

Go to Injoy (as mentioned above by myself and Billybob) on a Tuesday and you get the added bonus of having a good laugh at myself & Hazza killing each other on a squash court.

I would also be up for a hit of Badminton. Haven't played for years and wasn't really any good, but I could do with some exercise. Also don't have a racket over here. Thought about joining a club or something in the hope that it also might improve my German, but haven't got that organised yet.

I'd forgotten all about this until the thread was revived last week. Been a bit busy with other things.
Unfortunately I'm not going to have the time to organise this (or even play) so if anyone wants to take over, feel free...

Anyone still up for badminton against a bad player?
I know of two clubs that have badminton courts and one where you can rent rackets. But buying a racket is definitely worth it as it only costs somewhere between 15-25 Euros.
If you're interested, post...
Cheers

I´d go but I could probably only go on weekends. I´m not so good and would need to borrow a racquet.

Anyone else wanna play?

I'd be up for a hit at some stage. Also need to borrow/hire a racket. As for a time, suggest something and I'll see if it fits. Weekends are probably best, but then again I keep going places on weekends... Anyway.

Hi there, I haven't played badminton for years, but I remember that I played it quiet often and enjoy it very much. The problem: you need two players, not just one. So if anybody is in for a match, let me know.

a few of us play at what used to be called fit factory - i think it's the place billybob described. usually go after work in the week around 7ish. problem is it's very popular and often difficult to get good times. i really like playing mixed doubles. if anyone's interested in a game next week, let meknow and i'll book a few courts.

I have guests round for the Octoberfest so I will not be able to play this week. But next week onwards would be fine. Ideally not on a friday as I go into drinking mode.

that sounds good! how many courts have u got?
Topsy
Oct 1 2004, 12:34 pm
they have a "Dauerbuchung" on two courts, but they gather numbers by Tuesday evening and cancel a court if the numbers are too low.
it usually ends up being doubles all round, if there are 6 of us then it's one doubles, one singles, and an odd number just rotates on sitting out.
I like badminton too...

count me in.. if it is not too late.

Hi all, just caught this thread... I'm always amazing by TT. Badminton! What level are folks at for these? I played on my high school team and was very good, but that was 20 years ago so I'd imagine I'm quite rusty.
If there's room I'd like to join in... I've been dreaming of playing again since high school, but there's just no place to play in the US.

The
Fitness Factory / Racket Sports Club (RSC) is the badminton center near the
Hirschgarten.
Here's the address:
Be Active / Fit Factory RSCWilhelm-Hale-Str. 45
80639 München - Nymphenburg
Tel: 089 / 13 99 13 10
Fax: 089 / 13 99 13 32
Public means of transport: Tram 16/17 Steubenplatz. Get off at Steubenplatz and walk up Wilhelm-Hale-Str., first right after the Tankstelle (there's a sign pointing you there - it's a lane usually lined with parked cars with tall hedges on either side).
The tram takes about 10 minutes from
Hauptbahnhof, and they run about every 5 minutes on the way there. It'll take you about 5 minutes to walk from the tramstop to the place.
Anyone know the cost per hour for a court at beactive.de Fitness Factory place??
Or is it per person per hour?
Ta..
@Ellewood
do we have shuttle corks?
@Topsy
Its a good idea to book another court.
Can we buy shuttle corks there??
ellewood
Oct 3 2004, 3:40 pm
@ topsy
yes, i reckon that sounds right. would be good if enough room.
the price of a court varies depending on time of day. can't remember exactly but i think about 25 euro for court
