Surfing in Germany and neighbouring countries

Hey everyone,

This is my first post.

I will be staying in Kreuzberg/Berlin in 2.5 months for 1-2 years. Honestly, I hope to live there for that long. I also know that summer in Germany as not that long...

My question:

Where can I go surfing in Germany (or another country around Germany/Europe)/the nearest beach to surf from Berlin? Im from California and I know im going to miss the beach.

I have heard there is a city "river" with a man-made surf wave (Munich possibly) and I have been to Rostock once and seen the East Sea...The EAST SEA!!! hahaha fuck that its too cold and too rocky...only good for wind surfing.

North sea island of Sylt (rather expensive area...) but it won't be any warmer...

Yeah, I think Munich's the place with the wave in a river.

Otherwise you're best bets are flying somewhere, if you can leave tomorrow there's a cheap (50EUR) flight to Portugal

Flights to airports near(ish) to some surf spots (Bilbao, Jerez, Lisbon) are in the 100 - 200EUR price range.

Amusingly it may be cheaper (but colder) to fly to Bristol and take the train to a surf spot in the South West of the UK.

If you find anywhere cheaper or nearer, let me know - I'm dying for some time in the water.

our flight we booked 2 month before our visit to lisbon was around 50 euro p.p.(there and back). easyjet.

If you go anywhere north it's not going to be any warmer, but you could always invest in a wet suit...that's what we have to wear in Tofino (NOT warm)

Thanks alot guys! I won't get there until end of July but once Ive put my luggages away im gonna look into these spots.

I didnt know flying around would be so cheap...I hope the price is still the same during that month.
