Was a bit disappointed with the Cod. Tasted OK but came in this HUGE box so you thought you were getting a lot more for you're money. Finished the potatoe waffles. Ah well...

I was very disappointed with the steak pie as well. The content was more gravy than meat. Nice crispy top though, but even after turning the heat down to 180 (so the top didn't burn) and cooking it for an hour and half the rest of the pastry was undercooked so it just went straight in the bin and I just ate the top and the meat/gravy - which was an ok ammount with some spuds and veg. Got another 2 in the freezer to eat, but once they're gone i think that even if they repeated the selection I wouldn't bother getting any more - I'll just stick to the imported Frey Bentos pies.
Still, the cheddar cheese is good, and the blackcurrant squash is very nice, so I do hope they repeat the selection at some point.

That's unfortunately the case with a lot of deceiptful packaging these days... :-}
I too was not so impressed with the "cod"... It was *so* bland! Was it *really* Cod? I am nod so sure...
Thpught Cod is not so plentiful these days and therefore limits were plaiced on fishing? If that's the case, there is no way that they could sell it so cheap, surely?
I am gonna stick to the fresh fish at the AEZ fish counter :-)

SquirrelKate,
Maybe a bit far out for you from Hannover, but the Blackcurrant juice was still available in the
Lidl here in Bad Gandersheim a couple of days ago, along with the salt & vinegar sticks, and other bits and bobs.

Its French week in Penny this week and I was looking forward to buying some nice saucisson and dijon mustard and wine etc... went there at lunch time today (Hohenzollernstr.) and there was basically nothing left apart from Vache qui Rit cheese!!! F*ck
I was England this week and picked up a hilarious little book.
Eat Britain - 101 Great British TastesThings that catch the eye.
Peas
Strawberrys
Boiled Egg and Soldiers
Chip Butty (source of a good debate on TT night out. Sadly missing is crisp sandwich)
Fried Bread.
Rhubarb! F.F. Sake Can there be any better evidence for the existence of the devil? Celery perhaps.
Crisps
Irn Bru
Sausage Sandwich
People laugh at our food. How on earth can anybody complain at this list (apart from the Ruhbarb)

you obviously haven't tried rhubarb crumble!
At my

still get the cheddar with pickles. I avoided it for weeks, but it is not half bad.
They also have steak pies and those horrid TV turkey dinners, and cod left...

What a rollercoaster of emotions this thread has been.
The highs - excited Brits anticipating the food, then writing their (usually) glowing reviews.
The lows - our lovely food being slagged off by philistines.
Lets see this thread get to 31 pages!!!

You know, it's the weirdest thing. In 30 pages of replies, you're the first person to have said that.
Or perhaps you aren't. Either way it wouldn't be funny. On the off chance you're being serious, the answer's in this very thread. You don't even have to use the Search function.

Whole world knows that Britishers have lousy kitchen

.
Only immigrants from other countries bring colours in their food and nutrition. Recently only this Jamie Oliver started putting efforts in improving British kitchen. Otherwise Britishers would chew Fish & Chips or artificial jam only everytime

Aside from the atrocious grammar, this muppet could only be a German. I know of no other nationality so incapable of detecting irony. German food is, for the most part, "brown and white". Dead pigs and root vegetables. And cabbage.

Reading the new posts, yes, because it is a slow Saturday and everything in this fucking city except for the purveyors of shit German food is closed for a holiday that makes no sense outside the territory of choirboy-botherers and little old ladies.
The substance of your comments isn't terribly interesting. But if you wish to perpetuate the fantasy that German food is in some way superior to other cuisines, then I'm not going to be the one to disabuse you. Someone should enjoy that shite if only so the pigs didn't all die in vain.

I'd have to agree that certainly in many homes up and down the length of merry England, the standard of food purchased in supermarkets and cooked at home is very often absolutely appalling. Interesting that
Aldi and
Lidl are apparently thriving in such a market..
