What is a Haggis ?
A haggis is a small animal native to Scotland. Well when I say animal, actually it's a bird with vestigial wings - like the ostrich. Because the habitat of the haggis in exclusively mountainous, and because it is always found on the sides of Scottish mountains, it has evolved a rather strange gait. The poor thing has only three legs, and each leg is a different length - the result of this is that when hunting haggis, you must get them on to a flat plain - then they are very easy to catch - they can only run round in circles ...

Alternatively, chase it the wrong way around the mountain and it just falls over...

Currently the import of Haggis to the USA is illegal. This is due to haggis' offal ingredients such as sheep lungs. The British Food Standards Agency disputes these concerns, and claims there is no reason for the import of haggis to be restricted. US FDA has declared them "unfit for human consumption" .

I'm American and thought flapjacks were also pancakes. Until one day I was visiting my British friend and she asked if I wanted flapjacks. She brought out these kinda cookie things that looked like a musli cereal bar. It had oats, raisins, honey and some other things in it. It looked strange but tasted very good. I was very surprised! Thats because a ton of you ran off in 52, couldn't return and were forced to recreate home in the countries you landed in. I actualy have experienced alot of Hungarian cuisine more than you British in fact, any country that considers pasta with sugar and salt a dish can just shut up when it comes to judging others.

Back to the topic in question- thank you v much for the info I will def be checking out what is on offer in
Lidl next week.
It was American week a few weeks ago and I got some tasty bbq crisps, beef chilli and mexican chilli crisps. Yes i am a crisp addict, bring on Salt n Vinegar!!! (I feel paying 1 euro for a (small) bag from Subway is a lot when I eat so much!!!)
Note: it is currently Asia week at the moment, I bought a curry sauce which I wouldn't recommend. It was so sweet :-(

"Thats because a ton of you ran off in 52"
Get some basic facts right, to sound more credible. It was 56 and not 52.
Hungarian restaurants run because they do profitable business, because people spend their CA$H for the taste they offer.
As you British are discovering, Nostalgia alone, or simply "TALKING UP" the Cuisine does not make it popular with any one. No one spends their bucks for the British taste, even the British do not do it.

May 31 2008, 7:25 am
Even Britons do not eat British.
There are more British expatriates around the world than than half the population of Hungary. Yet hardly any British restaurants, even for the expatriates. If you guys like it so much then why not eat it too.
All British claims on this forum would qualify as hypocrisy, you claim British good is good, you claim you like it, but you don't put your money there, because in reality your taste buds tell you that there is no value there.
Only remark I hear about British food from non British is "It's crap".

That malt vinegar looks suspiciously not like any malt vinegar I've ever seen. Far, far too light in colour.
Was thinking the same myself. 90% of that stuff is rebadged assortment stuff from
Lidl UK, available all the time. However the vinegar is not the same-in the UK/Irish Lidls it's proper malt, dark brown like Sarson's. The bottle is a different shape too. As I said, the rest of it is pretty much all available (in different packaging) year round in British and Irish Lidl stores.

Believe me your food is shite, over cooked over fatty greasy horrible peasant rubbish. Taste? I've scraped grime up from the back of fridges with more taste.
As I said pasta with salt and sugar. The only dish in the world I couldn't swallow. Who's country does that come from?
ANd if you want to talk about cash then I think it may be good to compare money generated by the Britis food industry including media exports and your pathetic country's attaempt at making a stew.
Sorry your basicly talking rubbish and if any body is talkingup their national cuisine it's you. But to be honest having met so many hungarians that does not suprise me.

That is bollocks, my dad is german and so is my husband, and they both adore british food, as do many other foreigners I have spoken to who have actually eaten there and are not just quoting the cliché.
And no, they are not just saying that to be polite as per your theory. Most germans I know are far too direct to lie just to humour someone.
Also, the variety and quality of produce in british supermarkets is by far superior to germany, and I dare say Hungary too!!!
