Zobirdie
Hi all;

I came to the city with two english novels and I've read them. Now they are just sitting on my shelf collecting dust. Anyone want to get together and exchange books? Have some fun, be a little social, save some euros...

Z.
Cathi
hiya, i really like the idea of exchanging books. smile.gif
i'd be in..
spacecadet
I'd be interested too - what sort of books are you interested in?
Jade2
Hi,

I have a fiction, Echo Park by Michael Connelly that I would like to exchange for another book by this author, or recommended similar murder mystery novels.

Love this idea! Has anyone heard of The Kite Runner. I have that and a couple other random novels lying around if you're interested in swapping.
Feli
Read the Kite Runner already ... was a great book. But I am always interested in swapping books, better than having books cluttering up the book shelves and it is always nice to get new books to read. Is any one of you actually going to arrange a bookswap meetup?

Failing that, send me what you have to offer - I have already made a little list ...
lolo
I have loads of girly books I cant wait to get rid of. I'll send you a list and you can take what you want.

It could also be you. smile.gif
Tibia
Guys, I have about 40 books that i need to get rid of as ive moved apartments and they are in the old place, i dont want them, and i have to give the keys in next week.
They are fiction general with a bias towards chick-flickery, hence me not being bothered about keeping them.

I know this isnt quite the social get together because basically you would have to come up to the flat to take them away, but, hey, its free books in english.
Anyone interested?

Or you too? tongue.gif
Cathi
yeah, actually i am! what day would suit you best? smile.gif
tinap
you can also look into www.bookswapper.de, a site to swap english books for free. Large selection there and only costs you the 85c to mail the book.
Zobirdie
Well... How about Monday the 2th around 8 pm?

My vote is for somewhere easy to get to? How about on the main S-Bahn? Anyone got an idea where? I'm very new to town.
spacecadet
That's good for me. Would it be useful for us to make a note of the books we want to bring, so that if no-one is interested, we don't have to lug them round with us? I'll add mine tonight, when I get home from work...
Feli
Oh, pity. I can't make June 2nd. Here is a preliminary list of some of the books I have to swop, in case anyone is interested. Maybe we can arrange an alternative meetup:
Elizabeth George: A place of Hiding ; Carol Smith: Darkening Echoes; ; Jeffrey Deaver: Vanishing Point, The Devil's Teardrop, The Empty Chair, The Vanished Man; Kathy Reichs: Cross Bones, Bare Bones, Break no Bones, Monday Mourning; Patricia Cornwall: Predator, At Risk; Donna Leon: Wilful Beahviour, Uniform Justice, Blood from a Stone, Doctored Evidence; John Grisham: The Brethren, The Testament, The Partner, The Chamber; Ruth Rendell: The Rottweiler; PD James: A Certain Justice, Unnatural Causes, A Taste for Death, Devices and Desires, Innocent Blood, Death in Holy Orders, Death of an Expert Witness, The Skull beneath the Skin.
I have quite a few more books to swop as well, mostly "krimis", I just need to get round to adding them to the list...
Zobirdie
So where is a good place? Somewhere around Hackescher Marckt? OR Zoo?

I have Break No Bones by Kathy Reichs and Cross by James Patterson.

I will read just about anything!
Zobirdie
Hey Feli! When can you come! I would love to raid your collection!!!
Feli
Pick a book and we can arrange a meetup via PM, Cheers, Ros

Or you too?

You'd all have to come down to my neck of the woods, which is nowhere near Berlin. biggrin.gif
Zobirdie
Well.. I can't make it tonight- but I really want to make this group happen! (Sorry I've not been around- internet issues!)

We should pick a night once or twice a month and make it a get together type event!
Cathi
this sounds great!

oh and I really have to thank Tibia! Me and a friend went to her old apartment to pick up aaaaaall her kind of old books she didnt want anymore! It was so great (although so extremely warm on 5th floor wink.gif ) and a lot of fun.. hope we will all meet up as a group one day smile.gif
Tibia
aww shucks! you guys did me a huge favour smile.gif
The downside is i dont have any books left to offer in a meet'n'swap. Doh.
Feli
Well Tibia,

I can put them back into the pool (for you to use as swopping currency) once I've read 'em! Besides, I might have some more books that you'd like to have. My list wasn't complete.

On that subject, doesn't anyone else wanna make a list of books they have to swop?
australis82
Is this still going on? I'm definitely interested in taking part in this. I've got a couple of girly books, a Stephen King and a Robert Harris I'd love to trade. When's the next meetup to exchange?
AdamH928
Same here, is this still happening?
