PR agencies - public relations & advertising

Looking for a decent german PR agent - probably more the single-person affordable type rather than a big scary firm?

Asked my personal contacts and they said "I can recommend some rubbish ones", which didnt really help!

They're part of a large agency, but the Munich office is about 12 people. Their main thing is high-tech. Not sure what kind of representation this guy is looking for.

I can see that several of the major publishers are based here in Munich. And that the fortnightly magazines are very strong.

I have a few questions - such as what is the difference between RATE CARD prices and the rates paid via agencies etc. Also anyone got a good PR contact within this area of the market?

I am considering having a crack at doing my own PR, but would like to know if the professionals out there consider this a disaster of an idea etc.

Just looking for a few pointers 'cos in business I would say that PR has always been my weakest point - and yet some people perform miracles with PR!!!
