G'day,
I noticed that someone had organised a German/English exchange class which is an awesome idea but it looks like they have enough people. So if there is interest I am keen on establishing a second class. I dont arrive in Berlin for another week and I will be living in F'shain. I guess ideally it would be good to have a few people that are fluent in German and want to learn English and vise versa. Anyway Im an Aussie male, 25 and obviously speak English but just basic German so Im keen to get more conversational. So I guess we will see if people are interested in forming a group and if we get the numbers we can decide when and where etc. Just shout out if your keen - Matt

I'd be in, too. I consider my German to be at a "beginner" level, although I have had 5 months of intensive schooling and have been in Germany for a year, but my English is off the hook.

Sweet, glad there is some interest. Cathy do you want to find out how many of your friends might be interested? As I said I arrive in Berlin in 1 week so maybe if we start the class in about 2 weeks and hopefully a venue in F'shain will suit most people...

Hey Matt!
How you doing? Nadine had organised the other tandem group and we met last night. Many people were interested but hardly anybody showed up so that we (2Germans, 1English) would like to meet up with you and anybody who is up for it. We were in coffee karma, Friedrichshain (Sonntagstraße), which is a really nice place. Hope that more people will show up next time and am looking forward to it.
Have a safe journey!

Hey Monika and others,
Im doin good thanks, just looking forward to getting 2 Berlin! I guess coffee karma sounds like a good enough place to meet. Hopefully that is kind of central for everybody. I will be living on Strassmannstrasse, Im not sure where that is in relation to coffee karma but Im sure its not too far. Lets keep tring to get numbers, it would be good to get a big group

Hey Matt!
Sonntagstraße, where coffee karma is located, is in Friedrichshain with many bars, restaurants and cafes and easy to find. Just let us know date and time, we´ll be there and hopefully many others.
Have a nice weekend

So how about somebody makes the leap of faith and decides a venue and time lest we loose enthusiasm.
Im new to berlin so i cant think of anywere im sure some natives will be better to advise.

Hey,
sorry I havnt been on in a few days. Just arrived here and have been really busy trying 2 settle in and sort out work, house etc. What if we go for Monday 9th around 6pm at the coffee house that Cathi suggested: coffee karma, Friedrichshain (Sonntagstraße). Cathi do you know what street number it is? Does that time suit everyone? Matt

Its number 30. Its not got a huge sign out front so you have to look out for it

Just an idea but hows about the 8th of June, similar time still.
Just that makes it a Sunday so i assume easier for everyone and Germany are playing in the Euro later that night so anyone who wants can fork off together and watch it.
Just and idea

Well, it wasn't me who suggested coffee karma (or whatever its name is, sorry

) but I'd be interested anyway. Sunday wouldn't work for me, though. I'd rather say Monday, but in the end the majority of you will decide

Jun 5 2008, 10:13 am
Oh yeah sorry Cathi comeone else did suggest it!! Anyway I cant do Sunday either if that works for others no worries we can meet a couple of times a week anyway if people are interested. So how about people which night is good for them this week. Il say Monday works for me. If Sunday is good for others then jump on board with Dan, I will be able to make it other Sundays just not this one coming. Cheers - Matt

This sounds like a great opportunity, as I've been looking for tandem partners but can't seem to pin anyone down for a commitment. I've been in an intensive Deutschkurs for 6 months, but my funding just ran out so I'm going it alone now. Plus I live just a couple blocks from the venue, so see you then!

Quite likely I'll be there with my (very small) posse of those who bothered to turn up to the first group I attempted to start.

Hi all,
Just saw the listing for the English-German exchange group, and it sounds great. I'm a native English speaker at the beginning-intermediate level in German (am in my 5th month of intensive German classes), and am always looking for opportunities to practice and improve my German (conversation is always the hardest!). Hope to join you all for the next meeting if you still have space for one more!

G'day,
yeah it was good the other day, I got a lot out of it. I now have an au pair job in Charlottenberg so I am unable to attend the classes during the week. I would be able to do most Sundays though. However this may not suit everyone else. So you guys discuss when you want to do it and I will do my best to make it - Matt
