Well, I don't know how widespread the demand is but if you moved to Berlin, we know there is at least one person in need..

Welcome to the Toytown forums.

In response to OP. Im no expert and havent really looked into it but the general feeling i get is there is little demand for English teachers and far too many people looking to be employed as such.

little demand, lots of competition, absolutely terrible slave wages, very difficult to get a visa sponsored.

i disagree. from experience, talking to my employers and other teachers, demand is very high and has been for a while. as far as competition? i only have 1 year of full-time teaching experience, i've been here for 2 months and i've gotten offers from 8 different language schools for work already. the wages depend on your experience. i work only part time and make enough to live on and live fine. however the visa situation is difficult but i don't know anything about it or how hard it really is. i have an american friend who got her visa-- it was tedious work and it took a while but she got it. and you really need some sort of ESL certification, be it TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, whatever.

How easy is it to find teaching work in Berlin?
And is there work available 12 months of the year and where are the best places to find work
...What are the good and bad things about berlin and peoples mentalities.

1. yes
2. private language schools (not sure what you're asking here tho.. unless you have a german uni teaching degree, you wont be able to teach in grammar/secondary schools-- but maaaybe part time as an english teacher in a kindergarten, but that's rare. forget about teaching in uni.)
3. well that's quite a tall-order question now innit?

On my midnight stroll to get a doner last night, I saw one of those little flyers with the cuts on the bottom so you can rip pieces off that was advertising private lessons for 15 euro an hour. Well every piece was ripped off, so the demand can't be too bad! Or maybe Germans just like to rip stuff. That being said Berlin is obviously an extremely international city and there are tons of native English speakers here, so if English isn't your native language I have to imagine your demand goes down to about zero. That's just speculation, I'm not in the biz. Also, I had to look up the word "pedantic", so maybe I need lessons!
