Hi

I've just squared a job, however my boss requires two things:

1) Health insurance - although i am EU citizen i still need this - please can you tell me where to find something dirt cheap and basic

2) I need to register myself as a worker somewhere... er does anyone know what this means - aparantly i need to tell the authorities that i am living in germany and working. What is the name of the department/bureau i need to contact

Thanking you all in advance

You need to register your adress with the Kreisverwaltungsreferat the central one is next to the underground station Poccistraße, but there may be one closer to where you live. As to the medical insurance it depends on how much you are earning and whether you have an "interesting" medical history. I am insured with the AOK I doubt if any private insurer would be willing to cover me or if they did I would probably have to pay a lot of insurance.

Well it says you are an EU citizen from Spain? When coming from the UK you can elect to pay UK National Insurance (buttons) and still get full cover over here. They only allow this for 2-5 years and then they decide you are a permanent resident etc. Maybe you can do the same from Spain?
