Hi. I'm Anthea, 17, and ridiculously, indescribably thrilled to be chatting with you all.

I'm going to be staying in Munich for a couple of months over the coming summer (arriving around June16).

My knowledge of the German language is, to put it kindly, non-existent apart from...bleiben, sheiza, toot mirr lite, and nein...all of which I've spelled terribly.

Anyhow, here I have this enormous group of people who surly have a copious library of knowledge about that which I know nothing... SO!

Any advice for starting out? Any interesting places to visit? Anyone interested in offering some sanity in the way of English speaking company? Any enormous mistakes I should avoid learning from first hand?
Anything at all really, would be wonderful.
Thanks!

Watch out for depraved Expats! Especially of the TT variety. wink.gif

Read lots of the older messages under #life in munich# here - it'll provide you with more information than you could ever want - it'll also protect you from a bit of sarcasm from some of the people who've been answering your question for the last god knows how many years!

Google #Munich tourism# for places to go and see

Join in one of the events here for English speaking company

can't go wrong

Thanks! I appreciate it. I allready know about most of the obvious tourist places, but I have a semi tight budget, so theres always that to think about. I've begun the googling exploration, and it's going lovely.

Tuesday Drinks and Friday Beer Garden are great ways to meet English-speaking people. smile.gif

Oops, forgot to mention, there are also various meetups for 20-somethings, for under-25s, for 18-24 year-olds, etc etc. No idea what they get up to though. I'm *ahem* a little bit over the age limit. sad.gif

Just check out Meetups in Munich to see what's going on.

Oh, and if you're in Munich in the summer, you have to check out the beer gardens (Biergarten in German). You might want to practice weightlifting beforehand, to be sure you can lift the one-liter beer glasses!

If money is tight remember you can get cheap beer lovliness from the shops and head for the English Garden or the Isar. cool.gif
