QUOTE
A German court has jailed a Muslim of Afghan origin for three and a half years for stabbing an Orthodox Jewish rabbi in the stomach in the street.

The court in the south-western city of Frankfurt convicted Sajed Aziz, 23, of grievous bodily harm. Witnesses said he had shouted anti-Semitic insults at the victim, Rabbi Zalman Gurevitch, 43.

Wonder what the court thought he was doing stabbing the guy , strengthening his triceps?

He should have been charged with attempted murder, I can never understand why someone can attack someone with a knife and be charged with anything else.

A knife is classed as a deadly weapon, as such attcking someone with one can kill them, hence attempted murder.

Especialy in cases like this where he just walks up to the guy and stabs him. Its not like the rabbi broke into the guys home and tried to steal stuff.

The afgan guy should have received at least double the sentence and then been shipped off back to afghanistan at the end.

Then again, would shipping him back after the sentence just give poeple abut to be deported a way to stay longer? Would they rather stay in prison in the west than go back to their country of origin?

Sorry, but why is this being discussed? Someone got stabbed. Someone is going to jail. And?

Jew.Germany.Racism.

Is that normal for you?

If you speak german you might want to read this, before drawing conclusions:
Spiegel Online

It seems the Rabbi (a heavy 1,90 m guy with a tendency to fraud and violent disputes, as proven by several lawsuits) attacked (or at least threatened) the Afghani, because he thought he heard him say something antisemitic (he couldnt say what exactly and the defendant claims he only said "Salaam Aleikum"). The defendant stabbed him once in self defence (he says) then ran away.

Sadly, finding an anti-semite, even a murderous one, isn't all that hard to do. Is it normal? No. Does it exist? Again, unfortunately, yes. So, what exactly is special about this case?

@ UpQuark

Ahh maybe it's just me who thinks murderous anti-semites in Germany are hard to find... do you bump shoulders with such people regularly or how do you know so many?

Personally, the person I feel most sorry for is this one: "Charlotte Knobloch, die Präsidentin des Zentralrats der Juden in Deutschland". Fancy having to go through life with a name like Knobloch! tongue.gif

I don't know any and, again, I would hope that murderous anti-semites are VERY hard, if not impossible to find. You seem to think that violent anti-semitism is absolutely unthinkable in Germany. I wish that were so, but I don't think that it is.

In the light of your most recent post then kindly explain this:

EDIT : You seemed very certain.

Dude, I'm still not sure what your point is. You think anti-semitism is prevalent, you think it's rare. You think it's a good thing, you're against it. You think the sentence was too much, you think it was too lenient.

My point: there are anti-semites in this world and some of them are violent. How many are there in Germany? I have no fucking clue. I'm happy not to have run into any (apart from a guy visiting from the States, who wasn't violent, just stupid). If I had my way, there wouldn't be any anywhere.

Now. What is your point?

I just highlighted a news story... before this post I didnt have points on this thread other than anti-semitism is pretty awful and the simple truth that it is not as commonplace as you suggested above.

I think that if the guy who had attacked the Jewish dude was blonde and blue-eyed he would have (deservedly) gone down for a lot more time. IMHO we are far too tolerant of the intolerance of people who have gained shelter through the tolerance of this country.
