Pilgrimage of half greater Hamburg is highly likely if the weather is half decent.

Fireworks start at 10:30 p.m. at the "Außenalster", it is recommendable to get there early to have a good view.

Bring some cool drinks, a blanket and your sweetheart or a few friends, later go for a dring - it's tradition and always good fun.

Its years since I attended this - last time was with child in push-chair. Now hes 19...

The Alster is quite large - does anyone know from where the fireworks are let off - so as to avoid being at wrong end.
Many years ago they were let off from a barge moored towards the Northern end of the Alster but I think last time I was there is was further South & we didnt see much...

We are always west of the Alster, near Fontenay, from there you've got a good view.

We made it to the Alster & enjoyed the fireworks - first time we had been there for well over 10 years...

Had a good view - we stood on the West side just North of the US fortress consulate near an ice cream van...

Yeah, it was really fun, and great weather this time!
Went to Finnegans later for Karaoke and had a blast, came home after three...

It was nice to meet you filteringfields, just let us know if you want to join us for Karaoke next time - you should hear Ted singing, he's phantastic!

I am a bit late replying here. Sorry….but I have been travelling and just got back to Hamburg today. Definitely had lots of fun and we shall meet again.
