Simbach and Braunau, Germany vs. Austria

This is the tale of two cities that straddle the Inn (that is a river by the way). It has become the butt of local jokes and rightfully so. The two cities are Simbach and Braunau both "am Inn". You might know of Braunau because that is where Hitler was born.

Well, Simbach has just recently installed a statue. Actually, this one:



The Austrians are none to pleased with the "butt" being pointed at them. This po-po theme makes regular appearances in the local press. What I found to be funny was the inscription plaque dedicating this that in hindsight makes it even funnier.



The guy riding the fish is named "Aenus".

Aenus is the Latin name of the Inn river ...

And Uranus is the name of a planet, doesn't stop me from being 6yo and finding it funny.
