Hi, are there other moms out there who are raising their kids bilingual? (German-English) I´m an American living in Düsseldorf, with a two-month old daughter. I would like to meet with other english-speaking moms to get back in the swing of speaking english (I´ve been here for 12 years). if you´re interested let me know. Thanks, Alisha

Hi Alisha,
a meet-up for english-speaking moms would be great. I am japanese and live in Essen with my german husband and my now six months old (can't believe he has grown so fast) son. I have spent some time in the U.S. and would love to speak english more frequently.
Yvette
Hi,

I am a mum of a two year old boy. I am not a native but very good Eng. speaker.

Please let me know if you are interested.

Thanks, Yvette

Thanks,

Hey!

I guess I'll just be saying more of the same as the other moms. My husband, 2 children, and I are moving to Wuppertal or somewhere around there (maybe even Düsseldorf) in September. I would love to connect with other English speaking families to help us all with the transition. I am from the US, and my husband is Spanish.

My son will be 4 soon and my daughter is 17 months. I have heard that childcare for children under 3 years old is nearly impossible to find. I am considering either looking for other children to care for in my home (to help with socialization for my daughter, and to help me meet other moms) or to see about making or joining a co-op type network with other mothers in which we could share in the care of our own children to allow each mom some free time during the week (even if it were just one morning or something like that), as well as small group playtime for the kids.

Anyway, maybe we can start a regular correspondence and eventually meet up once everyone get settled...

Take care,

Vanessa

Hi Folks,

I'd be interested in joining you too - I've just moved out to near Essen with Hubby and 2 boys (nearly 4 and 16months). Would like to perhaps meet up if you get a regular thing going.

Hi,

I would really love to meet some moms in Dusseldorf. I moved from New York a year and half ago , my husband is german and I am a non-german speaking Indian with a 2 month old baby girl. As i am sure its true for alot of moms, it is challenging to meet people in a foreign country , so i am hoping this would "crack" it!
I am 30 yrs old and have worked in advertising for the last 8 yrs:), incase any of this matters.
Would love to hear from anyone who is interested in meeting up.
Cheers
Shwetha

Hi there, I moved from Toronto to Duesseldorf in June 2008. We live near the Zoo park. I am raising my son biligual. He is a little over 14 months now.

I'd love to meet moms - English or German speaking - to make new friends for myself and of course for my little one, too.

I am working full-time and therefore probably right now it's mostly the weekends when I will have time for mom & child activities. But I also have Thu and Fri night "off", so we could do just "mom-stuff", e.g. grab dinner or a movie or get a pedicure...

Love to hear from you ladies!!!

Sure lets meet up this weekend if your free . How about in the Alstadt (old town) for lunch? let me know if this works for you ,and we can choose a cuisine and a restaurant.

We've finally arrived in Düsseldorf! Would love to join any gatherings with or without the little ones... provided it's in the morning (lunch is ok too!) or the weekend as I'm taking german course in the afternoon at the moment.

Hi All

Did this meetup finally happen?

Hi Ratna,

No meet-up has been organized or happened yet, as far as I know of... I met for coffee with Shwetha last week and we took a little stroll along the Rhine. Of course it would be nice to get more people together or even found a little mom&baby and mom&tot group... Any volunteers??

Hello everyone,
I think I have replied to few of the people on this chat ...
We live pretty central in Dusseldorf, in the Zoo area. I would be happy to organise/host a meet up of Mums and Kids at our place some time, or at Schillerplatz (spielplatz). I am Australian, I have a 2 year old son, let's say Coffee and Cake from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm Thursday 18th Spetember? If you are interested let me know! and I will publicise address/contact etc.
Cheers,
Jo.

Had a wonderful day out with Yvette and her little boy this afternoon... Thanks for introducing us to the Suedpark and the petting zoo - what a great place. We were talking about trying to get a group of moms together and have some regular outings. Love the idea of the afternoon coffee Jelly. I would however, not be able to bring my little guy since he is at his grandma's on Thursdays and Fridays. As I am working full-time, I'd probably be able to get there about 5:30pm. I live in the Duesseltal/Zoo area too (so if you up for duck feeding play-dates?)
