Beach holiday recommendations in Holland - Germany

Best places to go to from the Cologne area
missyj
Hi all,

We would like to just drop everything and go to the beach next Thursday with friends and kids for the long weekend. From Cologne, where is the best beach place to go in Holland with a decent town nearby in case of rain? We mostly want nature and beach, and would love to rent a house right on the beach if possible. But hotels are also an option. THANKS!

Sounds as if a FKK beach is what you are looking for... rolleyes.gif

I like the beach at Castricum just north of Amsterdam (about 20-30min on the train), there is a StayOk hostel about 2 km from the beach- the beach there is partial protected Sand dunes, so parking is a ways from the nicer part of the beach. But you can get close to part of the beach further down.

I was in Bergen a couple of weeks ago and it was nice. The town is about 5km's from the coast and is old, pretty and worth a visit. Quite expensive though. On the coast you will find Bergen aan Zee, which is not so pretty but has miles of white sandy beaches, a national park full of dunes that are good to cycle/wander around. If you go to Bergen aan Zee have some food at SB Noord, on the beach, I heartly recommend it.

enjoy.

I just came yesterday from Noordwijk in Holland, very nice beaches and landscapes... We took our bikes from Germany and did different tours. It a very good recommendation. Just have a look at the website of Noordwijk and the sorroundings:-)

Schevingen (sp?) is actually part of Den Haag and is a very 'english' seaside resort
