Hello all,

I am not currently living in Germany but would soon, I am working online with a 1099 contract for a US based company, so I work at home and online. Once living in Germany, I am wondering how I am supposed to be dealing with taxes and health insurance etc...

As far as I read and understood, I have to get a private insurance, on average, do anyone knows how much it will cost me, also how do the taxes applie to my case, do I have to register as a freelancer or as a self employed? if yes could I take off the taxes thing such as my internet connection, part of my rent etc... ?

Any advises and piece of information would be highly appreciated...

Have you tried searching the forum for similar topics? For example, there is Working in Munich but still employed by US Corp.. It's an old thread, though, I don't know whether the information is still valid. To find more recent advice, try entering a few likely keywords in the search box (upper right corner) and then look through the results. Good luck!
