Hi all, I'm an American who will be shortly receiving a draft copy of my new contract with a German firm. I was wondering what things are negotiable - or benefits that I may want to consider? This is actually my first time ever negotiating a job contract. I'm thinking of asking for commuter benefits (monthly pass) but is there anything else I might want to bring up? Thanks.
Hi
If you are planning to do german lessons as well, I would suggest trying to get some paid time off a couple a times a week added in for lessons.

Sounds simple, but sometimes people forget - whatever you negociate, make sure that a revised contract clearly reflects the new agreement! There are stories on here about companies going back on their word re: reimbursing German lessons, for example.

Hi everyone,
I have received a contract today and I am unsatisfied, we had agreed during the job interview that the Company would pay my relocation costs and would provide me with an accommodation for the first month. I clearly asked to put it it writing in the contract, but I have read it and there is nothing mentioning it.
I have written a e-mail to the Human Resources that I am disappointed and that I am not going to sign the contract as it is.
What should I do with the contract? Do I have to send it back unsigned?
Thanks in advance for your help!
