Hi everyone,

We are young couple that is moving from Australia to Nuremberg soon, and we would like to live in proximity to good places to go out for dinner/clubs etc.
Please if someone can recommend some good districts or suburbs, also what would be the rental price for 2/3 bedroom apartment/flat etc in those suburbs??

Thanks!

Hi there,

Nuremberg doesn't really have any suburbs. It isn't big enough. There are many neighbouring towns, but they all have their own center core, and identities. For a young couple, I would recommend living as close to the center of Nuremberg as possible. That way you can walk into town anytime you like, where you will find restaurants, shopping, bars, and I think there is at least one or two clubs as well. However, we have a 'club mile' here in Nuremberg which is located on the outskirts of town. Most usually have to take either a taxi, or the underground, or have a DD (designated driver).

Nuremberg has several very nice neighbourhoods which are close to the city center. My favourites are in the 'Nordstadt' so north of the city, and include: Maxwell and Garten h.d Veste. Also, St. Johannis, Rennweg, Wörder Wiese, and Rosenau. All these might not tell you much, but when you start your apartment search, they will be bound to come up.

I help major companies in Nuremberg such as adidas and puma with relocation to the Nuremberg area for their employees. I would be happy to help you find a flat or with any other issues you may have. It's not easy to rent a flat here as a foreigner, so please be prepared for some difficulties.

Regarding rental prices, depending on how close you live to the city center, you should be prepared to pay between 600-800 Euro per month. If you are lucky, that would also include all your side costs as well.

Hope this helps!

Thank you. I will check the areas that you mentioned and I will keep in mind your offer. We are well aware that there may be difficulties however we are willing to see how things go... hopefully everything will turn up well smile.gif
Thanks again

Hello everyone, I am new to this site, and would like to know what are my best options regarding finding a place to rent and employment. I have been researching different places/websites and noticed that rent is fairly high, with Nuernberg downtown by the castle having lower rentals in nice older historic houses. Anywhere else I looked places are either rented by companies or realtors, which are quite high and require 2-3 months of fees just to move in it.

Employment I heard can mostly only be found anymore through work agencies, and the worker doesn't get paid a lot because the work agencies take the money the employer pays, but only pays a certain amount to the actual worker.

I am german, but lived for many years in the USA, but I would like to return to Germany next year with my new husband (american citizen) to live there at least for a few years, but of course have lost touch with a lot of the new things going on there.

Anyone has any suggestions what to do when you first arrive there regarding finding housing/employment?
