Where to watch the UEFA Cup Final

Rangers vs. St. Petersburg, 14.May.2008

Any Toytowners out there know of any decent venues - not Oscar Wilde - where tomorrow's UEFA Cup Final is being shown on big screen? (I know, it's on SAT 1, but hopeful to the last of seeing it in the company of some Rangers fans.)
Ernstar
I´m a gers fan and was going to head to Oscars as it´s the only place i know where there might be another few like mindeds. Nice pub in Kreuzberg called the Blarney will show it in english too... it´s a celtic haunt through and through though.
berlinender
have you tried the Irish harp in Charlottenburg, or the Murrrays bar in Kreuzberg? Failing that, as its on Terrestrial, itll be on in most German Pubs if you ask them - If you dont mind the gernan commentry

Although Zenit have blown away 2 german sides in this Competition, Im convinced the 'Gers can do it!
Schotte
youre having a giraffe.
the only team in history to score no goals in regular play of two games and still make it to the final, compared to the russians who beat likes of munich by 4 goals.

yes, id be "convinced" too...

ill be watching coronation street omnibus.
irishsteafan
why would you want to watch rangers and their anti football, racist bigotted borefest anyway?! hope they get pumped and the whole world sees their fans for what they really are when they turn the city of manchester into a warzone.
scotsman671
To All my fellow Teddybears outhere in Berlin. If you want a Big Screen, and to have a sing song, then it must be Oscar Wildes. It was quiet on the Fiorentina game. So tonight my Loyal Supporters, lets all get together under the same roof, down at Oscars.

CMON THE GERS>:)

barbiegood
Hi Scottieee,

If i was in Berlin I would join you for sure smile.gif

Whilst I admire your enthusiasm at comradery and your attached Image, I cant for going down the Oscars...Its the pits, and undoubtedly is one of, If not the, Worst Irish bars in Berlin...It might be slightly tolerable if it werent for the Manager, who treats his customers with such contempt - and has such a big chip on his shoulder he'd make Harry Ramsden jealous...

Enjoy the Game..

From the Green side are we?
irishsteafan
"Green side" or not, it's pretty damn obvious to anyone in the footballing world that this is the worst team to ever reach a european final, unprecedented quadruple, yeah right, how easily you bottlers forget that the Lisbon Lions won five trophies in 67, one of course being the biggest prize of all.
JOB
Mon the St. Petersburg!!

You could watch this for the pre-match 'build-up'

I hope "Scotlands Shame" get humped.

irishsteafan
i'm not your son, 67 might of been a long time ago but your team of nobodies will never be as good as they were, ha,how you can be proud of that team you support is beyond me, nothing but a band of bile racist bigots who still to this day sing songs mocking the irish famine or songs about being knee deep in fenian blood, not to mention a certain salute you like to do,and of course the nasty filthy campaign you continue with about one of the greatest managers the world has ever seen(who not forget, rushed to help injured people during the ibrox disaster)and then have the cheek to call it a bit of banter,at least celtic are trying to stamp out the sectarianism being sung by a minority of the fans, rankers only seem to be going backwards, but don't you worry, you will always get away with it because you have gordon smith and the SFA Loyal rankers supporters club on your side, and you will continue to cheat your way to any silverware as long as you have incompetant referees like the sinister minister reverend mike mc flurry on your side. first it was the whole of scottish football laughing at you and your cheating ways, now the whole footballing world is laughing at you because of the way you have reached this uefa cup final. i wish i could say i pity you's but i can't even do that.

The comedy never ceases! A decent game of football. When was the last time, in all seriousness, Rangers played a good game of football? I'm not saying that Celtic have been Barca-esque, far from it. But really Rangers do anything but, fair play the tactics have got you to where you are, but as a football fan I'd be pissed at what is being dubbed as football at the Glue Camp.

Good luck the St. Petersburg. I really hope they show Rangers for what they are, a negative uninspiring team.
irishsteafan
yeah i'll admit and hold my hands up and say i don't like them, but every word i've said is true.
Jules Winnfield
From what I know, derbies in Glasgow are really rough and scum is scum, regardless of the club. Rangers have it and Celtic's is no better than anyone else's.

EDIT: Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, there's only one club in Scotland worth supporting: Queen of the South. Everything else is just talk.

Forgot to ask you, do you support Scotland or England? Tricky one now Orc, think about it!!!

Just remember, your club is the only club in Scotland that would not sign a player from a particular religious background for over a hundred years, sort of says it all, doesn’t it!! SCOTLANDS SHAME!!!

As the picture says "Unprecedented"

And when was the last time that you were at a Scottish game? Ok, there are a minority of Celtic fans who chant IRA songs, which in my view is wholly unacceptable, but this is a minority. Now compared to Rangers were a vast majority of them, hit us with sectarian bile week in, week out not to mention the slur on the good name of Jock Stein and their new chorus of 'The Famine's over, go on home' the comparison is unwarranted.

No more 'Old Firm'. No more guilt by association.

I'll think you'll find that Celtic are nowhere near as bad as Rankers..oh just you wait and see when they cheat their way through the scottish cup final against your Queen of the South.

I haven't been to Glasgow in years and my source is a Celtic supporter in Milngavie who says he avoids both sets of hardcore fans. I just don't buy the Celtic fans are perfect angels rhetoric. Nothing more, nothing less.
irishsteafan
whose saying that all celtic fans are perfect angels?

And there we have it a source above all sources, Rugby loving chap from Milngavie, who's probably slummed it and been to a few Partick Thistle matches.

At no point did I say Celtic fans are perfect. I am merely pointing out that Celtic's support has a minority, whereas Rangers have a certain majority who tote there songs of hate. A simple look at both teams recent behavioral track records in Europe show that when it comes to fans, the Rangers contingent beat Celtic hands down for their racist and sectarian songs and violence towards opposing fans and players.
JOB
Manchester doesn't trust Rangers fans with the booze.

Pub closed after brawl.

The headlines just keep coming! 'It wasn't us officer it was the bad Russians!'

He was a season ticket holder...

Point taken.

If I were a Rangers fan, I'd have no problem finding articles that talk about Celtic fans "misbehaving" either you know?

Yes. I'm sure you had no trouble finding that. Again. I said recent in my previous post and for every one you find against Celtic I could easily find another three regarding Rangers. Again, at no point did I say Celtic fans are perfect. But, you seem to be continually missing that.

So, your little link there is almost ten years old, if you were a Rangers fan, could you find me something a little more recent?
Chaz-Berlin
Waw, sorry for butting in here but I have just read these threads - I follow Rangers but am really gobsmacked that people on here appear so heated about this game.

I naively thought we left all this crap back in Sotland and Ireland where it belongs! Anyway, I'm away to watch the game.
jeffaree
Scotlands Shame get humped!! Football wins in the end!!

Have it Orcs!!

Hail Hail!!
evilbill
Some amount of vitriol here. True, Rangers got to final playing defensively, but to paraphrase big Jock, you get the overalls on for the knock-out stages and keep the best suit for the final. Sadly didn't turn out that way for us tonight, but still an achievement to reach the final with such limited resources. Total football it might not be, but still worthy of recognition all the same.

Celtic fans on here shouting the odds here showing how parochial they are (as do the worst of the Rangers fans who resort to similarly suspect tactics): tacit agreement that they define themselves purely in terms of their city rivals. "Armutszeugnis" as they say round these parts.
Hazza
As I said on another thread - I'm disappointed that Rangers lost because I didn't want St Petersberg to win with their policy of appeasing racist fans
bluedave
I was backing Rangers too but i have to say the better team won on the night.

I was astonished that Rangers didn't really push forward into the Zenit area until the last few minutes, i was expecting Smith to ask them to play FA Cup football from at least 10 mins out.
Ernstar
i love celtic fans, they´re such a clever bunch.

What a surprise TFOD cause trouble in Manchester!! Typical bigoted and twisted piss peepel!

Dont remember seeing any trouble in Seville when i was there.

Hail Hail
Malvern
One question to any rangers fan who can answer it:

Why did your club not sign catholics until about 1989?
Ernstar
because they´re too ugly
Malvern
well the rangers catholics are, just look at Nacho "Ned" Novo and Carlos "ugly Betty" Cellulite.
JOB
I think the events since last night put all football into perspective. Scottish football lost a true great last night, Tommy Burns lived for the club he loved and a proud Scot. Let this go.
irishsteafan
Aye ye's lost, I don't really care anymore, after the news today it really does put the whole thing into perspective, RIP Tommy Burns, true legend who will be sorely missed. YNWA
Ernstar
sorry to hear about tommy burns, well respected and much liked
