Cool! I love quizzes! (even tho I'm crap!) How many people needed for a team? (people, do not let prior comment put you off!!)

Foxy
Grrr - I would've loved to have gone to this when I was living here...booo.
VDB
oh that's a good idea!, would certainly be up for it once in a while
chewy
So, who's up for making a team?
Showem
Topsy and I are planning on a team. We used to regularly rake it in at O'Reillys. Sadly, often placing 2nd, whose prize was a flat of Guinness, which neither of us really drinks.
Bubble Gum
Hmmm, tempting, what kind of questions?
Graham
ooh this sounds like an activity for me as well!

@ showem and topsy: can I be on your team since you are winners? biggrin.gif
Showem
Hmm... only if you promise to talk too much about touch rugby and have an area of expertise beyond the history of Wales.
Hellcat
ooh, that sounds fun. i've never done one of these quiz night things.
canuck
I could be in on this...haven't gone to a quiznight in awhile.
petal
7:30 start is not too late for a school night, and I shouldn't have too much work to do on Monday evening. I'll be up for joining someone's team.
billybob
the pub quiz at o'reillys was terrific - set the standard that no others have matched since. an english guy phil used to do it - not seen him for ages though. liverpool fan so maybe it's not so bad.
hope the one at the arc is as good.
the only problem at o'reillys was that it got too many people and the prizes became well worth winning (over 150Euros for a winning team) and so some teams started SMSing friends at home for answers. gits. ph34r.gif

I think i can manage that!

and have an area of expertise beyond the history of Wales

how about rugby as an area of expertise? Seriousloy though, I know everything, ask Gen she will confirm this biggrin.gif
butterbean
so this is tonight then, is it? Damn, I need a team...
petal
Over the weekend, a few of us got together a team - think the definites were canuck, chewy, SteveNZ, Tartan and me. Are you guys all still up for this? Don't think I missed anyone off. So BB, there will be space on out team if the rules are that it is to be teams of 6. Interested?
pepper
Hey Petal, you forgot me !
petal
Oh man, sorry pepper. Yeah I remember speaking to you (after spending all day at the wiesn), but I didn't think you were a def! So you are coming tonight then? BB - looks like you will have to set up another team, unless someone pulls out. Sorry.
pepper
I'm a def ! might as well keep my alcohol levels topped up, am off to Sweden next week, and the darn beer is just too expensive there !
butterbean
no worries petal! happens when you travel as much as I've been this month. will float and drink (and vice versa) and hence bear no responsibilities... wink.gif
canuck
@BB: If we happen to win any huge prizes through the quiz ... it'll go towards helping you drink and float (or float and drink) all night long!! You have my word!! Happy BDay!
Showem
I talked to the quizmaster last night (yess, I have connections...) and he himself didn't know how many people the teams would be restricted to. Hazza was in no fit state to be making important decisions like that either last night, so we shall see. We talked about the possibility of putting a Faraday's Cage around the pub to stop cheaters from SMSing, but we didn't get far.
Topsy
yeah - no sms-cheaters!!!
@hazza, can't you collect all handys on the way in to the pub or something? wink.gif
chewy
im still in, thinking cap currently being located.
butterbean
if memory serves (which it usually doesn't after evenings at the Arc), my "handy" (ugh, memories of this meaning something else entirely in high school) doesn't get reception down there.

@canuck - oooh, thanks!
Jeeves
@BB I was about to post that too. My memory serves to tell me the same thing. May not hold for all providers / phones though.
Showem
Two different mobiles from 2 different providers had full coverage yesterday downstairs.
canuck
D2 works down there. So if you've got a D2 handy...you'll win the quiz!!! No Faradays cage tonight...Hazza can't pull that off...he's not that smart!!

EDIT: Hazza's the greatest barman in the world, but he doesn't strike me as a physicist. Although one can never tell...
pepper
With T-Mobile I even get coverage in Murphy's which surprised me a little. Vodafone is not so good once you go below ground level.
butterbean
could be. I've got T-Shite.

@canuck - now, now, don't bite the hand that gives you drinks. Hazza is brilliant!

edit: ok, if pepper gets reception with T-Shite, then maybe it is my memory that's faulty. getting older and all, you know...
billybob
l'll come too and squeeze onto someone's team.
my specialised subject: looking out of the window while bored at work
JoolyBooly
oooh, I'm good at that today... getting a tan here!

I would join but it starts at 7.30 tonight, right? I have Yoga in Pasing until 7.30 so couldn't make it before 8.

Guess I'll wait until the course finishes, then I can come.
Showem
Although I have connections, they had nothing to do with us winning the quiz tonight. Heh heh heh. Great work from Dr. Matt on the quiz, I think everyone would agree it was well run and the questions were fun.
Topsy
yes, it was fun
thanks to Dr Matt
even more fun, because we won, and I just love to win laugh.gif
chewy
Great Fun
And i think my team had the best ethos, if we start by losing we have something to aim for by the end of the winter. And that sense of fulfilment when one day all the questions are on engineering, and we might stand a chance!
Great night guys.
canuck
We lost...But, at least I knew the capital of Australia is Melbourne. I got one right...whoohoo...
Foxy
Is that a joke Canuck?
JoolyBooly
I can't believe you even asked...
canuck
Maybe I should have said Alice Springs to be more obvious...
Foxy
No you're right - not firing on all cylinders today blink.gif

(Foxy skulks off muttering to herself that she must not post whilst half asleep)
T-Rex
Esther and me will be a quiz team on monday night and we are still looking for volunteers to join in...preferably extremely intelligent and good looking ...
pepper
Is my team from last week joining me again ? We have a base to build on here, we finished last, we can only go up from here.
Mbangura
Hey,

Newbie here. I'll be going to watch some football today, and would love to go quiz night tomorrow. I'll just watch the first night, to get a feel for the questions, but I would love join a team for the future, and hope to meet lots of you there.

Michelle
Bubble Gum
Who's up for going to quiz night tonight? I was thinking of stopping by after the tex mex at bondi.
pepper
Err ? What time is the Tex-Mex, I think they clash. Quiz night starts at 7:30pm.
Foxy
What time does the quiz finish? When did it finish last week?

I have a feeling that I am just going to go for Tex Mex then head back t'country oooh aaarrr
pepper
Anyway, I will be at the quiz night.
petal
Yep, becs and I will also defo be at quiz tonight.
Bubble Gum
Harry said he could postpone the quiz for 30 min (texmex thread), but if no one is going to point there is no point in doing that. I don't know how long it goes on for.
pepper
Last week it started at 7:30pm and finished around 10:00, I think.
