fabulous smile.gif
yeah, hazza posted that the first quiz of the year would be on the 9th
Hazza
Quiz is back again tonight!!!
Showem
Hoorah!
Friday
ok I am coming and will try to see if I can hook up with a team.
bluedave
I may well give it a whizz myself tonight, are there many teams needing people to join them ?

Honest, I'm not as daft as i look i promise . .
codemonkey
I'll pinch in too.

Any team need a qualified nerd? Good on geography, science and er...not much else. Completely crap on sport.
codemonkey
@bluedave, Andrew

We just need one more to make our own team smile.gif
bluedave
OK i'm up for putting together a scratch team, i'm sure somebody will join us and show us the ropes
codemonkey
Just need a name now... DrewBlueMonkey?
Showem
Just wanted to be the first (and probably last) to post on this thread on this particular Monday.
phaedrus
it says it is a weekly event. So are there already pre-set teams or does one just show up in hopes to join a team.
Gen
some people have set teams, but you can just show up. A good way to meet people, really. You should hurry though if you're not already on your way.
phaedrus
No I want to attend next Monday for I saw this too late. I was just wondering if there was a sign up sheet like all the other events.
benpanter
It's organised by The Arc rather than TT - but there are quite a few folks from round here who go along. Just turn up and ask Matt (quiz person) or Hazza (manager) if they know of a team who needs an extra.
Hazza
Just a reminder that Dr Matt is back doing the quiz tonight after his well-deserved holiday.
byrdbrain
Scogs will be there for a change, but our regular teammates won't. Anyone want to join the Haggis? We can accommodate two players and generally come in 4th.
Scogs
we came in 4th ...again...but it was on a tiebreaker...a red wire blue wire question and went for the red wire...well actually a rose coloured wire,
grazzenger
mwahahahahahaahaha!!! i just heard from my scandinavian friends that they're really pissed off with coming last all the time (not my problem, fricking northern relatives). but i also heard that someone won 200-odd yoyos for knowing that the first team that brazil played was exeter city!!! and they want me to join their team in some blind hope that i'll know some 'local' shit! eedjits, i say...
SquirrelGirl
Is this going on tonight? There are two of us who've never been and would like to join a team! (one American, one Swede) Anyone need two chicas to round out their team?
SleeplessInMunich
Yes, it is happening tonight. There usually isn't a problem finding team members if you just turn up anyway.
SquirrelGirl
Excellent, thanks!
The Judge
I may be able to make it out tonight however im a bit nervous of coming out on my own.

Will there be many people at this quiz, is it hard and how do i get there?

There's usually a good crowd out for it. I've seen new people arriving there before and are always made welcome. Someone will get you onto a team and you'll be sorted. Sometimes the questions can be quite hard (depends on what you know really). A good mixed team will usually do well enough.

Getting to The Arc is easy. Depends on where you're coming from as to the best approach. For me I take the 27 tram from Karlsplatz and then it's a very short walk around the corner to the pub. See here for full details on getting to the place.
SleeplessInMunich
There will be plenty of people there, its not too hard although I guess that really depends on how much you know and as for getting to the Arc there are direction on how to get there on the website if you look above.

Edited:
here are directions to the Arc
SleeplessInMunich
Oh well, there you go. Keydeck and I have both said the same thing basically except for the difficulty of the questions... biggrin.gif
The Judge
I will try my best to make it out tonight.

BTW you guys (and girls) are all so sweet x

SiM is smarter than me you see. Last time I was there I think I tried to answer New York to all the questions. It was an approach that didn't really yield very many scores.

Just online, in real life we are horrible b*stards... wink.gif

Wait till you meet them... ph34r.gif

SleeplessInMunich
Ach Keydeck is just being modest. What he didn't know about the brat pack could be written on the back of a stamp... biggrin.gif
Eleanor Rigby
Keydeck, try using "the Leningrad Cowboys". I've had a fair amount of success with that answer at the Ryan's Muddy Boots quiz.
Kay
@SIM
Looks like I was right to warn The Judge, after all wink.gif

Edit: thanks for the "gender clarification" (how could I forget that discussion about the pic in her profile and the fact that at first glance those boots look as if... ahem... I'd better stop here ph34r.gif )
SleeplessInMunich
@Kay, that would a her actually. The Judge is female according to her profile. biggrin.gif
Exile
Last week a bunch of quiz newbies got 3rd prize. So you never know your luck.
Topsy
Yeah, a seasoned veteran who dropped his usual team-mate like a used condom when some hot chicks decided they wanted to play with him. dry.gif
Still, the team-mate he dropped won first place with her scratch team *gloat*
Naming no names, obv.
HelterSkelter
Can't make it tonight... damn, gonna miss out on them boots now... biggrin.gif

Topsy, you have previously clarified that your comments about the quiz are simply a wind up not and meant to be taken seriously. Be that as it may, I've asked you privately to knock it off. I will now do so publicly. You've had your fun, now please cut it out.

And for the record, based on point totals, you came in second last week.

Gee I'm pised off I mised that. You're bitchy enough when you're playing on the same team. God knows why The Arc didn't explode when you found a "splitter" from your ranks.

What was the team name, - "Upquark is a splittting seppo bastard who used to be our familiar piece of furniture"?
Topsy
It's not funny in the slightest, bucket, and if you don't stop it right now you'll be sent to stand in the corner.
SleeplessInMunich
Be there tonight folks for the ongoing saga between Topsy and UpQuark. Live and exclusive at The Arc.

bad editing you'll never make the directors cut

Its called a jump cut and along with shaky cam, the overuse of "" it is the signatures of the "bodge it" school of direction. The "bodge it" school believes words are transient and what is not said is as important as that which is.

Lisa Simpson to guy at jazz club: "You have to listen to the notes that she's not playing."
Guy at jazz club: "I can do that at home."
