thanks Kay

I assumed it was something with official NATO languages but as far as I'm aware the only official NATO languages are English and French so that doesn't really fit

BTW I like the way Anthony In Europe turns up half way through and then sits with a team with a good chance of winning
Didn't a team of two win last night?
Yes
(I almost felt bad that he split the money with me because he earned the lions share of the points)

If anyone can come up with a better solution, then please let me know.
I say strict adherance to 4 per team, glass partitions, separate colored wrist bands and name tags for each team should be enforced. Once the quiz starts, if anbody tries to get anywhere within 3 meters of any team, that person should be permanantly banned from entering the bar. I can't believe some people think QN is all about having fun.
Daisy
Nov 29 2005, 1:08 pm
3 meters is a little lenient. I think they should just close and lock the doors at 8 pm exactly and if you aren't there, you don't play. There should also be pat downs so that no mobile devices, newspapers, or trivia books of any kind are allowed in the quiz area to avoid cheating.

Nov 29 2005, 1:21 pm
Did not think the ticklish Daisy would want a comprehensive pat down

If it was a comprehensive pat down while making out... well, that's another story.

You could always suggest it as prize for next week?
Jeeves
Nov 29 2005, 1:34 pm
But only for teams of at least seven.
Daisy
Nov 29 2005, 1:43 pm
At least 7?
Well, in that case, everyone that pays should all just be on one big team - that way everybody wins!

Just for the record:
I was part of the team with 7 people. The main thing at quiz night is for us to have fun. We do not care whether we win or lose. Since we have little hopes of winning anyways, we think it doesn't matter how many people we are. We are just a group of people who want to meet up and have fun. Further more, sometimes we don't know who is coming to the quiz. So we might be 4 people at the start of the quiz, then another friend turns up later on. As Hazza already said, we certainly want him/her to sit with us. We rather have our friend with us than winning the quiz. As it happened yesterday, some people of our team came late and some left early. So what?
We ended up on the 7th place anyways, so we didn't even come close to winning. So what's the big deal?
Sometimes I reckon it's even harder to play with a lot of people because it's more difficult to decide on one answer when there's a lot of different opinions.
Anyways, that's just my opinion.

May be you should play alone to win the first prize

You also had Shaggy on your team which is a minus three handicap so you really only had four people.

Well observed Anthony! Yeah, he helped a little bit, but he came late and left early, so the rest of the time we were lost

And we also had three Germans, which is a further minus three handicap. So basically it was actually only a one-man-show.

Just come on in. Practically everyone in the bar that night is playing the quiz. Get there around 7:45, mention quiz night and that you don't have a team. A few teams will most likely be needing more people.

Just a quick reminder - next week will be the last quiz night for the year before Matt takes a well deserved break. He will be away in NZ in the new year, so it will be the last quiz he hosts until February.
There will be no quiz on 19/12, 26/12 and 2/1. Quiz will return after that on 9/1 with a replacement quiz master who will take Matt's place for a few weeks.

Just to let those people know who weren't at the quiz last night; because Matt's still around next week, we decided to hold a poll at short notice last night, of those people in attendence to see who would want to come and do the quiz again next Monday if it was on. We got enough interest to have 1 more for the year.
So next Monday there will be another quiz.
But this will definitely be the last one of the year!!

Just a quick reminder:
Last week was supposed to have been the last week of the quiz for the year, however we took a quick poll on the night to see who would go if it was on again this week, and quite a few people said yes.
So this week is the last time we'll have the quiz on this year (for sure) Matt is also going to be away for all of January, so this will also be the last one he's hosting for a while.
