Have you done the ancient weapons round yet?

How about a round on cartoons?
SleeplessInMunich
Cool, a request for dinosaurs again. biggrin.gif
I haven't done the ancient weapons yet but will pencil it in. As for the cartoons, do you mean as a picture quiz?

Either that or it could be a standard round as well. To be fair it would have to be cartoons shown in Germany.
Eleanor Rigby
Topic request: The Simpsons

This is possibly the only topic I can actually score points on.
Espedair Street Blues
New to Munich, but a fiend for pub quizzes (and i left my bag in The Arc last night so need to go back for it).

If i turn up will some charitable team take me under their wing?

Katrina
If you are doing dinosaurs, get the appropriate footwear.
Espedair Street Blues
Incidentally, i used to run a pub quiz and one of our popular rounds was the picture round where each team nominated someone to draw a picture of something of the quizmaster'S choosing. One fine example was Margaret Thatcher engaged in coitus with a pig. It still hangs on my toilet wall to this day.
Uncle Nick
We already had a music round on TV theme tunes, how about one on film music?
Exile
Best way to find a team is turn up and ask to join. Alternatively have a word with the quiz master and he will put you up for auction.
SleeplessInMunich
There is always teams looking for extra members or enough singles to form their own team, so please just come along anyway and you won't be left out. I already have one other person after contacting me for a team.
SleeplessInMunich
Just a quick reminder to everyone that the pub quiz is on in the Arc tonight and even if you don't have a full team then you can always turn up anyway and there is always teams looking for extra players. Don't be shy, grab a few friends and come along.
planetmoni
great quiz, thank you!
SleeplessInMunich
Thanks to everyone that showed up last night. Hope to see you again next week.
SleeplessInMunich
Just a quick reminder that there is a new set of questions to challenge you tonight and as always if you are without a team just drop me a PM or post here and we will do our best to fix you up. If you have never been before and are interested then please don't be shy, just come along. You might just enjoy it. biggrin.gif
Topsy
i'll be there, looking forward to it smile.gif
Espedair Street Blues
Hiya,

Coming along, but minus team. I'm very strong on Chilrens TV. Oh God i've wasted my life...

Rob
SleeplessInMunich
So, any takers for a Childrens TV expert? See you later then and if you haven't been flooded with offers by then just come up to me at the start and we will easily find you a team.
koubiak
Will there still be spot to take if I come tonight ?

Knowledge > Gossip, TV, history, french Cuisine,...

Never did trivia in English though...

Pierre
SleeplessInMunich
There was places available and sorry I didn't see this post in time. I hope you come along next week though.
Katrina
Can you fix the eggy pong in the Arc please?
It minged to high mong in there last night.
SleeplessInMunich
That is little bit outside of my duties as quiz master... tongue.gif
Katrina
Can you give out joss sticks or scented candles as prizes then?
SleeplessInMunich
I'll hand 'em out with the pens and paper biggrin.gif
SleeplessInMunich
Anyone else have an opinion on the TOP 3 round as opposed to the 4-2-1/1-2-4 questions? after asking some people last night the feedback was probably a slight preference for the TOP 3 round. People said it caused more discussion among the team members.
Topsy
yeah, the top 3 thing was a fab idea
a lot better than 1-2-4/4-2-1, i reckon
Exile
Didn't like the top 3, seems to be a bit limited in the type of question you can ask, but probably biased as we did crap at them. At least have it just once in a quiz.

The 4-2-1/1-2-4 has the gambling and tactical element to it.

Have you thought about a connections round three seemly random questions that have a connection. 1 point for each correct answer bonus point for the connection. Although I realise this is more work to set.
SleeplessInMunich
The connections things does sound like a good idea. Only problem I can see is people finding other connections than the one I'd have on the answer sheet.

What do you mean when you say "limited by the type of question I can ask"? unsure.gif
Exile
Top 3 means its always going to be a list question. I can see you can do a lot of geography questions, highest mountain, longest river etc. but how many science questions heaviest atomic weight, shortest lived sub-atomic particles?
Katrina
Keep Top 3, lose dates (except if the question is "Top 3 dried fruit in a Christmas Cake").
Topsy
agree with katrina, there were a lot of dates in the history round... you've moved from battles to dates.
it's pretty obv how you learned history at school - dates and wars, innit? tongue.gif
Exile
If your going to keep "Top 3", consider having it only once per quiz plus another style of question to replace 4-2-1/1-2-4.

Looks like I am going to have to ask Santa for the "The Ultimate Book of Lists" now.
SleeplessInMunich
Doesn't have to be just geography though. We were discussing things last night like, top 3 highest earning movies of all time, top 3 best selling car brands in Germany, top 3 fastest land animals, top 3 heaviest mammals, etc. It can also be something like the first 3 or similar. first 3 men in space for instance.
Topsy
don't give away any more potential questions!! smile.gif

and keep top 3, exile is just bitter cos they did crap at them tongue.gif
Exile
True, I think our team will have to work on the basis of an 8 point handicap from now on.
XabiAlonso
I am still cursing my failure to identify Billy Idol in the music round, which played a part in costing us the win.

Proud of our strong showing in the dictators round though. smile.gif
koubiak
Well same thing for me and Roxy Music... Anyway a second place isn't too bad for a noob.

Dictator skills were kind of unexpected smile.gif
Exile
I was disappointed you didn't have the question:
"Which Red Dwarf character subscribed to "Fascist Dictator Monthly" magazine"?
SleeplessInMunich
That was going to be in next weeks quiz... wink.gif
HelterSkelter
@XabiAlonso: Yeah! Your dictator knowledge rocked! biggrin.gif
SleeplessInMunich
Hello people, just 2 weeks of quizzes before the Christmas break. Hope to see to see you all there again tonight.
Topsy
I'll be there.
Any newbies thinking of heading down?
SleeplessInMunich
If anyone is interested in taking part but doesn't have a team them you can post here, PM me or just show up tonight and we will try and find you something.
Eric the Hamster
I'll be there also (not really a newbie though)
SleeplessInMunich
Do you need a team?
Eric the Hamster
I am not in a team, but I will just see who is around or just sit at the bar - thanks though.
Katrina
Will be there with last week's patently The Day Today fanclub team but sadly without our singer so there might be a space, not sure yet.
koubiak
I will be there too, I have voucher to use smile.gif

Is my former team (Daren needs an haircut ) in ? or should I find so other team ?
XabiAlonso
We're in, mate. I too have a voucher to use. smile.gif
Hazza
The music round is a beauty this week...

Takes me back to my youth!!
koubiak
Hair rock sucked and even more during the 80's !
