Monday night pub quiz at The Arc

For those of you who missed it last night, north is usually at the top of a map, especially maps of Ireland, a country I know nothing about

Thanks to SIM for the quiz, questions are getting harder, laddie.

Thanks to everyone for playing poorly so Greg and I (with Topsy and UpQuark) could win our last quiz. I know you all knew all the right answers, but messed it up just for us.

i think it's better to be too hard than too easy
if you make it too easy, then you get people all bunched up together with hardly a point separating them, like in one of those long-distance races where they go really slow up until the final lap.
and then the music round ends up being like the sprint finish - whoever happens to know the music wins the quiz.
better to spread the difficulty among different rounds, i reckon.

Of course, Topsy, harder is better.

I'm dosing up on espresso right now in preparation. By the time the quiz starts I will be able to read the questions straight out of SIM's head.

The answers, unfortunately, will be another matter.

The trick is to reduce your coffee intake but to increase it's strength.

yup, that's right, last week some people even started claiming we had 5 players, when there was in reality 3 of us playing!! Sore losers!! anyway, attendances would dwindle if we won every week, so I am only going every 3rd or 4th week

I hope to see some of you at the quiz again and as always newbies are very welcome and encouraged to come along. There are always teams looking for more people and we can usually sort something out for anyone that is interested in playing.

sadly i can't make it tonight due to an attack of flu/multiple sclerosis/whatever...
hopefully someone will turn up far better than i am and put young oh lordie! in his place - he's winning far too often these days

If you haven't a team sorted beforehand just come along anyway as there are always teams short of players.

I never sort out a team bforehand, I usually manage to get a full team together.

Don't forget that ceratin regular winners are away tonight and next week thus allowing you a good shot at the jackpot.
