Ha, you just want to wear your Batman outfit don't you Yeti? tongue.gif
Yeti
You won't get away with this, Riddler !

(Damn, my tights don't fit any more, Robin used the boil cycle in the Batwasher, again !)
Yorkie
Darren "The Quizsomniac"
Hazza
A nickname definitely can't have 4 syllables...
Yeti
Yes it can, Hazza.

I think you need to buy SIM a robe, a light sabre and then he can reveal his true identity.

Obi Wan Knowitall

In a pub far far away etc etc.
Joliet Jake
The Quizard? unsure.gif
It does have super-villian potential...
Carm
The Quizinator!
bluedave
The Quizling ? Apologies to any Norwegians reading this smile.gif
Hazza
I'm Aussie and we have nicknames for everything.

No nickname has 4 syllables...
Yeti
Q.

It's less than four syllables and he can build gadgets in his spare time.
Showem
Here I was thinking, "Gadgets? Alternate universes perhaps, but gadgets?"

Obviously a nickname with more than one character connotation attached to it.
SleeplessInMunich
@Showem, Q was the person in the James Bond movies that provided/built the gadgets for James.
bluedave
James Bond's Q

All the good toys n stuff biggrin.gif

Edit : Bugger, beaten by the nimble digits of SIM
Yeti
Ta, SIM, I didn't think my shields would handle another Moderator confrontation.
Showem
Sorry, I should have written my first thought. Obviously know both Qs. Would be good if there were gadgets or mariachi bands at the quiz.

Hazza mate,
I don't want to get personal but in Oz 2 syllables are on the edge and perhaps a bit much to handle, never mind 4!
Famous Munich Ozzies,
Kev, Tone, Jayce, friend of yours I believe!
Hazza, you my friend have a pretty unique Ozzie nickname, 2 syllables, must be your sub-continent connections that make it sophisticated!

Although Nicknames are normally shortened forms, not always, see Wikipedia,

Etymology: In Middle English the word was ekename (from the verb to eke, "enlarge"; compare Swedish öknamn). Later, an ekename developed into a nickname when the "n" shifted through junctural metanalysis.

So originally it means "Enlarged" not shortened!
When your real name is short, then your Nickname is often longer, most of mine have been, oh! and quite insulting as well!

I thought the Sleepless Quiz man was quite good, but I stand corrected.
I shall now sit back and wait for the abuse to flow.
Exile
Depends on your quiz master style:

Bond Q - Slightly exasperated irritation - "Oh! Do pay attention Exile"
Start Trek Q - Sneering superciliousness - "I doubt any of your pathetic teams could even begin to understand the next question, let alone answer it"

BTW I think you need a theme song to herald the start of the Quiz "My Favourite Game" perhaps?
SleeplessInMunich
Good idea Exile and its by one of favourite bands smile.gif
I think I will be more along the lines of Star Trek Q wink.gif
HelterSkelter
How about a custume, a drop curtain, some gogos and 13 little pugs on unicycles balancing over a shark basin sponsored by Fosters?

Which Australia are you talking about?? Hazza has the standard Aussie nickname. I didn't even know you were allowed to use normal names there. Usually the parents name the baby, and then everyone else simply adds a 'zza' to the first few letters of their name.

Shazza, Dazza, Wazza, Muzza, Kazza, Razza etc.

Same format for both sexes. It's the law.

Drunk people and shark basins do not make a good combination in a pub.
HelterSkelter
OK, no great whites and no drinks for the pugs and SiM while on stage. biggrin.gif
SleeplessInMunich
Who's heading to the quiz tonight?
Topsy
me smile.gif
Exile
I believe most of our team are turning up.
bucket06
who's going tonight?
benpanter
Can't wait...
SleeplessInMunich
I'll more than likely be there.
Topsy
i'll be there

i forgot to bring hippo's cd, though (hope he doesn't kill me unsure.gif)
Hippo
Grrrr!

(I'll be there)
Topsy
well, at least i finally got round to making it, hippo
that's step 1 smile.gif
Uncle Nick
Who´s going tonight?
Showem
We'll be there!
Topsy
aye, i'll pop along as well
there aren't too many quizzes left with Dr Matt in charge, after all
Uncle Nick
Just this week and next week!
Hazza
Yes. Next week is Dr Matt's final quiz.

We're just in the process of thinking of some kind of farewell for him...
Uncle Nick
How about a couple of crates of grape? laugh.gif
SleeplessInMunich
Who is heading to the quiz tonight? Don't forget that it is Dr. Matts last night doing it so hopefully it will be extra good.
Is there anything special for the occassion?
Exile
I plan to be there with two of the usual team plus some drunk bloke one of the team recruited at the wiesn.
Hazza
Dr Matt will be sticking around after the quiz for a few beers with everyone. I had asked if he was available on any night before he goes - just for a farewell beer or 2, but unfortunately he's not.

Is he guaranteed to still be drunk?
Sorry, we can't make it. All the best to Dr. Matt from the Haggises!

Probably... wink.gif
Showem
Thanks to Dr. Matt for 2 years of great quizzing! Good luck to Sleepless in Munich as the new quizmaster!
SleeplessInMunich
Great quiz last night. The music round was especially fitting. I hope to see as many of you as possible next week. biggrin.gif
SleeplessInMunich
I'm still looking for that snappy stage name and there is still a beer voucher up for grabs I think.
As for the quiz, I will be keeping it in the same format and style as Dr. Matt had it (at least at the start) but I would welcome suggestions for anything different that we could try out. There will be the usual categories of music round, visual round, 4-2-1 and 1-2-4 plus the 6 round of questions but if you would like to suggestion a topic for a round then please fire away. The joker will be staying as well.
Cheers,
SIM.
Topsy
can we have 8 rounds instead of 6?*
i used to like it when we had 8 rounds smile.gif

* as long as the additional 2 rounds are not both on dinosaurs, mind wink.gif
SleeplessInMunich
Anyone else? 6 or 8?
Showem
8 normal rounds was good, but finishing by 10:30pm is better.
SleeplessInMunich
So I could do 8 rounds but make the questions shorter or speak faster? wink.gif
How about 7 rounds then and a couple of single bonus question rounds?
Katrina
Finishing at 10:30pm is better for a lot of folk, not everyone has flexitime.
Keep it like it is for now, get a feel for it and then start with smaller changes gradually.*
Might actually make next week's - seeing as Tues is a bank holiday.

*apart from including the regular Songs of The Cardigans round of course
