Monday night pub quiz at The Arc

I was... and only answered... one question I think, it was a blast though, great dart game afterwards too

Was there too, good fun as usual... if only one wouldn't have to get up the next morning...

Did anybody manage to ace the lyrics round? We only got 1 on that with "Dancing in the Dark".

We got a big zero in that round
Dr. matt told the highest score in that round was 3. Just one team got that.

Yeah, we got no points in that round! But... did okay in the regular music round.

So who won? What were the other rounds like?

Our team name was actually "Two clueless German Blondes looking for a brain" and we indeed found two brains - which helped a lot . I think we were the team who got the 3 points in that music round. We got Nena, Bruce Springsteen and something else right.

I've been reading spanish translations of Batman comics since I learnt to read (and that was a lot of years ago), and the spanish translation of Bruce Wayne is Bruce Wayne. I think that only in spanish speaking american countries it is translated as Bruno Díaz. Anyway, a horrible translation if you want my opinion.

Well, a lot more likely than "Clark Kent", don't you think? But you are right, most of the links on an image search come from places like Uraguay and Argentina.

Yo're right. But I hate translations. Some years ago I gave up reading translated books. Of course books which are written in any language I know. You couldn't believe how can a book be changed by a wrong translation. For example, "The Hobbit", "The Lord of the Rings", all the Discworld books and "Die unendliche Geschichte" have an awful spanish translation.

I always thought that "W" wasn't in the Spanish alphabet or at least the official one? Isn't there some special word combination to indicate the Englsih "wuh" sound?

I don't know any Spanish, but I was just speaking to an American who speaks a bit of spanglish and when asked they said bruce wayne straight away. We put superman because batman had already been an answer... doh ! At least we didn't come last, which was a serious possibility after the first few rounds.

Exile, the W is the 26th letter in the spanish alphabet, but it's only used in words of foreign origin. "Wuh"? I'm not sure, but I'd write "guau" in spanish.

Don't know as I have never tried them.

It is much tougher than the one in Gunthers ( Even I could answer 2 or 3 questions there ).
But Dr. Matt makes sure that by the time we leave The Arc on Monday evenings, we have an accurate insight to our intellect

Haven't been to Mollys-Quiz so I wouldn't know, went to Murphies a few times but the quiz really wasn't fun... it just was too "english" tbh. Arc-Quiz is the best fun imho.

Any team with a place left? Or enough people to make a team?

Quiz Night tonight!

I will be in search of a team to join tonight. And yes, I know, I can "just go and join a team when I get there because there is always a team looking for an extra player".
I am just saying in advance.
I can contribute in the ways of Hollywood gossip, movies, music, sport, and usually current events. Science and Literature are on the bottom of my list of "Things of Which I Am Knowledgeable". Everything else is hit or miss.

I Monday nights in The Arc

Bit of forward planning - is there a quiz on next Monday (Easter Monday for the Christians among us)

I doubt that will be busy then. I know nobody called Christian. I know a few Christophers and the like though.

Actually, I knew a Christian once. Strange guy, from Allgäu. Left his job to marry some woman who already had 5 kids and then adopted 4 more. Set up some Foster home style thing near the Ladies Lingerie shop he inherited from his dad. Weird guy

It was good, though.
Better too hard than too easy, innit.

It was one of the more difficult quizzes I have experienced at quiz night, I have to agree.
Nice to learn some new facts. Facts that I will probably never have to use again except for maybe another pub quiz somewhere.

Here's hoping that Dr. Matt brings back the movies round...
