Weekly five-a-side football games on Wednesdays - Berlin

Who here loves playing a bit of soccer?
Superfreq
Hi,

A few of us irish lads are starting up a weekly soccer match, just 5/6 aside (unless we get large numbers) and wanted to see who is interested?

We'll be playing from next wednesday onwards (not this week)

Let me know if your interested, and i'll send on all details.

Hoping to get a european league going (each country agains't each other) and some prizes if it takes off...

The irish team is coming alo0ng nicely, but we are looking for more players.

Well come the end of June you can certainly put my name down for it. I'll be coming over the last weekend in June so thats one for the England, might as well get some football in seen as weve got nothing else to do this summer, unless I support Deutschland?!

Im moving to Berlin 29th of ths month, put me down for it, any ideas of location?
Just a suggestion depending on numbers/size but i saw a few fellas having a kick about on the park over the river opposite the hauptbahnhoff in the secluded part.

We've been trying the same thing: a few lads, mainly Irish, American and British trying to get a team together. When and where on Wednesday's?

Off topic, but nevertheless:
I´m playing with some friends tomorrow afternoon (friday) on the field on top of the park by rosa luxemburg platz. So far we are only five, so if anyone wanna join message me on 015111098214. Not sure exactly when we play yet, but I will let you know asap.

Oh and we are scandinaviands and dutchmen in our early twenties, but surely anyone are welcome to join. Skill level vary: I suck big time, but some of the guys are pretty good.

I'll be up for this in a month when I get there. English hooliganism all the way.

Same here! (But without the hooligan idea - I don't watch Scottish football!)

Lads,

the venue is yet to be decided - either kreuzberg or friedrichshain... call me on 017610037256 - Paul, and i'll know more by tomorrow.

Just bought a nice new nike ball, and sharpened my studs - bring on the English!!!

I've spoken with most people and wednesday at 7pm suits most people.

I was looking at the courts on the corner of adalbert strasse & waldemar Strasse. I'd prefer grass, so if anyone knows of any grass pitches we can play 5 a side on, then let me know, and we'll look at going there.

Sounds good but this Wednesday is Champions League final.. Thursdays would be a nice alternative

Misread the first bit about not this week... Grass pitches are a nightmare to find over here... Everything is astroturf...

I am up for this - and yeah grass pitches for football pretty much dont exist. Is it next wednesday and where and ill be their forever blowing bubbles - up the hammers (when curbs has gone)

sounds like a great plan you have freq, however previous efforts on here to form a footy get together have never materialised - much to my disappointment. for a 35 year old geriatric unfit Englander Ive had to take up Cricket for a bit of fitness... do let us know if you get a kick about sorted, and Ill pop along!

howdy, you can add a Canadian to the list for the footy. Just waiting to find out the time and place. cheers. -paul

Hi,
Irish lad here up for a kick about. I'm in friedrichshain so the location suits me fine. Let me know what the times and dates are if they'res still a place available.

Sean.

We played last week in Kreuzberg. There was 9 of us and to be honest the pitch was really too small. Was good craic though. Some people found it harder than others ("I was only vomiting water lads") laugh.gif I'd say if anyone knows of somewhere we can rent then it will make a big difference with regards size / quality of the pitch

Where you playing tonight and next week?

I'd definitely like to be added to the list of people interested. Maybe I can be the token American. I just need to know when and where. Perhaps an email list should be put together? I've been pretty eager to find a football club that wasn't too intense, but not a free-for-all either.

I have some ideas about locations - there are various sports complexes in Berlin that offer indoor and outdoor soccer pitches to rent. I've seen people playing at SPOK (http://www.spok.de/index.php?m=8&mi=20) in Prenzlauer Berg. There is also Fussball Welt Nord (http://www.fussballwelt-nord.de/) although that looks to be just indoor. Same with SoccerWorld (http://www.hallenfussball.de/?18910A0).

I'm sure there are other options too - I just want to get out there and play football once/twice a week.

Add me to the list too. I know the Jan Sport Park here in P-berg is a nice pitch and usually pretty free during the day.

Ah, and as the web-nerd I am, I'll suggest you could use sportsvite.com to organize and manage the league.
loquito
Is this still going on?
mr fahrenheit
yes there's usually about 8 of us who show up for a kick about. the biggest problem is actually getting a pitch as we play on public pitches in Kreuzberg, which are usually full of turkish guys or kids, so we either play with them or wait a half hour or so for them to leave. while this is great for inter cultural relations (!!) it is not something to widely advertise as its too unreliable. of course anyone is welcome to join so long as you know what to expect.
If us TTers want to set a time and book a pitch somewhere then i'm all for it, this way its too hard to organise properly. Paranous/Jeff seems to have the right idea, get an email list together.. i think there is enough interest for it

I arrive on the 30th of June and am well up for playing. I'm English but also have a mate who may want to play, he is a German lad so there will be an eclectic mix of us.

Is there a game on the 2nd or the 9th of July?
loquito
Well I don't know about outdoor real grass pitches, but I know there are some indoor astro turf pitches in a place called city sports http://www.citysports-berlin.com that I have played at a couple of times that where okay to play on.

I'm all up for contributing to a weekly football fund to book a pitch so if you do get a email list going, count me in.

Hey guys,

Are there any plans for a game tomorrow evening? My regular Tuesday night kick-about has been cancelled this week and I'd like a run around.

Maybe someone could send me a quick PM. Cheers.

in response to the request for an email list having spoken to a few of the guys yesterday we came to this confusing email address:

toytownfootball@gmail.com

If we get enough committed people then we can upgrade to a decent pitch that we don't have to run kids of every 5 minutes...
loquito
How do we get on the list? Just send you our address?
RandomName
Yep..

Just send an email... with name bla bla...
I guess we don't need much info... I suppose name and what time suits on a wednesday. if you want you can include mobile no or whatever but I guess that isn't necessary because we have an email
It is currently from 7 to 8 ish maybe 8.30..
Depends on the game...
We don't have a strict time... if we get enough people to commit to a regular thing then we could arrange something a bit better.

A lot of the pitches over here tend to only be let out on in block i.e 10 sessions for €250
If we get a commited 5 a side every Wed then it only costs €25 per person for nearly 3 months..
loquito
Okay just sent you a pm with my details.

Email sent!
