Hi cycling fans,
I am looking to launch a Five Lakes Cycling Tour. The idea being to get a group of cyclists and hit the five lakes within Munich's striking distance. Obviously not in one day, but throughout the summer (starting early June) Tours would be on holidays or weekends.
We start here, bike to the lake, have food and drinks there, then head home on either the S-Bahn or the BOB.
For now, I just want to gage interest. If interested, just email me at patrickmkessler@gmail.com, and we can take it from there.
We would probably start with the easier and shorter routes, then move toward the more challenging. Distances vary, and range from about 30k to about 75k.
Lakes we would hit:
* Starnberger See
* Ammersee / Wörthsee (probably on the same trip)
* Tegernsee
* Chiemsee (in all likelihood would take train there, ride around the lake)
If people are up for it, we could top off the summer by riding the entire Via Bavarica Tyrolensis bike path, which leads all the way to Tyrole (about 160k). That would be a two-day trip, with an overnight on the south tip of the Tegernsee Lake.
I have done all of these trips except Chiemsee and tend to say that at least trekking bike would be required. That said, these courses are gravel surface at worst, and actually paved for the most part (however, a road bike won't do here).
Cheers,
Paddie
