Where to buy Senetti/Sennetti plants

Info on stockists in Germany

Hi. I've been trying to find local stockists of these plants: http://www.suntorycollection.info/varieties_sennetti.html
All I've found so far is one German internet sales point (Baldur), but they don't have all the varieties I want. I would appreciate some info if anyone sees these plants anywhere, such as Email adresses or websites. It appears as if most internet stockists are in Holland and they only deliver to outlets. Dealers in England do not deliver to Germany.

This was just a quick question and not really a topic that needs to be discussed at length.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Chris.

I think they are called Kapkörbchen in German.

You should get them at any Gartencenter. I know Seebauer in Munich has them (http://www.gartencenter-seebauer.de/).
For Hamburg look here: http://www.bellandris.de/standorte/#firma

Thanks for great info. There are a number of options I had not thought of and places to go.

I also considered Osteospermum / Kapkörbchen, which is similiar to Senetti, but it is the intensity of the colour that Senetti has, which stands out above the others. There are no yellow Senettis, so planting them with Mittagsblumen and Osteospermum creates a nice display. When I started searching for Senetti, which appears to be quite new, I thought Kapkörbchen was exactly that, but apparently not. We were in Keukenhof (www.lisse.nl) in Holland, at the end of April 2008, and saw them there, but could not find a label stating who had planted them. In real life these plants are not to be mistaken due to, as I said, the striking intensity of the colour, which is almost unreal. Many photos do not seem to show this intensity. I used the German names for the plants.

Thanks again!

laugh.gif And you said you didn't want to discuss this at length.

I'd suggest finding the Latin name and calling places. Has got to be easier.

Calling did not work THANKS smile.gif - short enough?

Oh don't misunderstand me, I'm actually in favor of discussing things at length if people are interested in them enough to have started a topic at all.

So what is the Latin name, eh? And have you tried the Gerbera daisy? Clematis is also quite nice, especially twining about a mailbox. Plus this Senetti plant (how come Suntory can't get it spelled right?) looks to me like a patented hybrid, kinda like the Linda potato that Merck (or is it Monsanto?) is going to stop selling soon because the patent is running out and they wouldn't make any more money off it.

Seems to be a Cineraria, according to this website that also says Senettis were test marketed in Germany -http://www.flowercouncil.org/uk/news/fpnews/Productnieuws_2001/mrt2001_Senecio.asp

Im fairly sure i saw them last summer at my local Toom builders yard/garden centre, later in summer. Its all geraniums right now.

Hi.

I photographed them in the Home and Garden exhibition in 2004 and had no idea what they were until I went to Holland this year. I suspected I knew what they were, but the details were somewhat sketchy. As I can't find the really darker blue and darker purple ones, which almost appear to glow, I've ordered some other variations from Baldur and hope that I can get them from Holland next year. There is no seed available and the plants which are for sale are apparently cuttings. I believe seeds would only turn back into the original Daisy.

I'll attempt to find the photos ASAP.

This has turned into a discussion: it's great to know there are more garden freaks, sorry, garden lovers, out there wink.gif

I won't give up until I get them ! Then you all can all come round when I've got them - entry to garden 3 Euros laugh.gif - or I'll put the garden on YouTube! www.youtube.com/englishpages

Thanks for the tips so far!
