Work Experience:

Having worked on board ships for the past ten years, I have a wide and varied mechanical engineering background. Since the start of my career I have worked with air compressors of all types including oil free, reciprocating and screw mainly of pressures between seven and forty bar ( Hamworthy, Compair, Tanabe, Sperre and Copeland). The work was everything from preventative maintenance to complete strip down and rebuild.

I also have extensive experience with diesel gen sets and large bore slow speed engines ( Sulzer, B & W, Wartsila, Yanmar, Daihatsu, Bergen, Caterpillar, Holby and Mercedes), again the work was everything from routine and preventative maintenance to complete overhaul of the medium speed engines.

I have also been responsible for all the routine maintenance of various ships auxiliary systems and machinery such as, pumps, boilers, purifiers etc.
Prior to moving into a shore based position, I attained the level of second engineer on board ships, meaning I was fully responsible for the overall management/maintenance within the ships mechanical systems. I was also responsible for all engine room staff reporting to the Chief Engineer.

In the past year and a half, having worked for a design company, I would say I have become fairly proficient in the use of Autocad. My current employer has also provided Autodesk approved training courses.
