Meet up for video game players

Deep Silver is one of them, but there's not many at all here that do any real development. As far as I know, Midway only does localisation of their titles here and as a publisher they've rarely got anything going in terms of in-house development. Best way to go would be to go indie here, short of moving to Frankfurt, Vienna or Berlin.

Just sold some games today at gamestop: Devil May Cry 4, Burnout Paradise, and RE4 for Wii. DMC4 got really boring as did BP.

I just got a ps3 game called folklore the other day, and its quite fun.

If you are looking for cheap games, I guess you would have to get them used. There is gamecity at Isartor that has a bunch of used games, but the owner seems to be always in a bad mood there for some reason. There is also one on Landshuter Allee, I forget the name and address. I was really tanked one night and stumbled across it, went in and talked to the guy for like 30 mins. He imports a ton of games from US and Japan, and has a ton of old consoles and arcade machines from all over the world. I hope he is still open as he had some real cool shit there. I was thinking about buying a virtual boy just for shits and giggles.

Do we have a contingency plan in case of foul weather?

I was thinking about that today. I mean there is an inside part to the beergarden, we could at least have a few beer in there until we decide together on a better place. If its just cloudy and a little cooler I think we can handle it with hoodies etc. We will have to see on Thursday, just keep checking back here to see the updates.

If the weather is shit, we can just head to the Augustiner beerhall over the Hackerbrucke, Im always up for a haxe

Capcoms event was golden, there is so many great looking games from them I am really impressed. Bionic Commando looks absolutly awesome, as well as RE5, and all their upcoming XBLA titles. Also Ubisofts Farcry 2 is really getting my interest up. This year is going to drain my wallet like last year

Yeah i know, especially Nintendo, they have nothing coming out that we know about, I think they are going to tease the new zelda.

I hope somthing from the Ico team is announced, and as I am a Castlvania nut, I want a current gen console version. But its not had a good run in 3d.

The Augustiner brewery would be fine for me or any of the Augustiner establishments in the centre for that matter. I guess it depends on how many will actually show up tomorrow.

Occasionally DasAuge.de turns up some development positions. Like so. A praktikum in a company producing Flash games would be a good foot in the industrys door.

In that case, My vote goes to the Sendlinger Augustiner, cause there is a smokers club, and its 5 mins from my place!

I do not want to make it a difficult decision, so lets go with Sendlinger, as implerstr. is not that far off, it might be quiter than the augiustiner beer halle. Fucken rain though, beergarden would have been nice.

I also have dead rising, I bought it at gamecity, its a fun game but there are so many little things that annoy me I just cannot get into it.

I think though as part of this game club thing we got going on we can trade games with each other, if your hesitant in purchasing a game you can borrow it from me if you like. I have too many games as it is.

Also if Peteb reads this how is ninja gaiden 2? I saw you playing it last night.

Also are ps3 games region free. I want to get a lot of english only games in Canada, but they have to play on my machine back home in Munich. Especially Oblivion, I have the german version and it really sucks, even though its helping my german a lot.

Yea Brennz, I just saw you were online as I was calling it a night last night, Ninja Gaiden 2 is class man! The graphics aren't all that amazing when you look around (well, compared to how well they looked on the original Xbox at least), but most of the time you don't have a chance, but the animation is so fluid and the whole game moves around so fast. The moves are amazing, and its going to take me ages to learn them all. If you loved the original Ninja Gaiden you will be playing this with a huge grin on your face, its soooo good! Everything is totally OTT (enemies include actual Ninja Dogs)

I got it from here: www.spielegrotte.de. You have to scan your passport or ID and send it to them if you want to order the 18+ games, or games that aren't available in Germany, but their prices are alright and the delivery is super fast. (Had NG2 since Wednesday!)

And yea, as far as I know, all PS3 games are region free. I have Dead Rising too (and Gears, and Crackdown, and now Ninja Gaiden 2: all too violent for Germany apparently), it does take a while to get past the annoyances in Dead Rising, but once you do its a great game. Once I realised that it was really designed for repeated playthroughs and that I didn't have to do everything the first time, then it was much better. The one save game slot was a pain in the arse though.

One thing I cannot figure out is crackdown was banned in germany, but gta4 not? WTF?? Money talks, big retailers could not let that one pass them up. Its very silly.

I wondered the same about Crackdown, and found out that it was because you could pick up the bodies of pedestrians and carry them and throw them around and stuff!

@ian, I do not know I have never been there but since today is a dismal day I think it might me a cool place to check out. I booked for 8, since we are 6 so far. But I told the guy we may be more. From what I have heard its not so touristy so thats good.

Ive been there a few time, its pretty much a regular Pub, but with Augustiner quality beers and food. Theres never any tourists, and also no tourist crap on the walls. Just a nice, relaxed place to get pissed.

Could any body be there in an hour? I am pretty much done here.

I could be there for about 5:15/5:30 as work's slowing to a crawl here.

Also, XBL:Combini. I`d be up for some PC games (Armed assault, Company of Heroes and Supreme commander are my current favs) but I gave away my pc when I left japan. Doh!

Yeah man it was a blast last night, definatley looking forward to the next one. Maybe I will host it at my place. Its nice now that I can put a face to these TT names though.

I am hungover as well, but instead of sitting down and playing GTA4, I have to pack for Canada and do some last minute shopping. When thats all done, I will have a go at GTA4 tonight and maybe finish it.

Any of you lads tried the Battlefield: Bad Company demo yet?

I`m off to the games club monday evening... anyone else interested in coming? just the people who made it to the pub on Saturday for now, and just one or two people, `cause im not even sure if its allowed

Battlefield seemed good, I am a big fan of BF2 and BF NAM. The anti military subtext seemed a little forced and dumb, but better than the soulless neutrality of the older games. It suffered from lack of mouse controls, but I only played the single player bit as the multiplayer wouldn`t kick in for me. (Same with Civ Revolution... I hope my next house has better networking if itäs a problem at my end) The graphics engine seemed really good for 360, nice and smooth and well textured.

Halo gets away with the controller somehow... probably because I am Bungie`s bitch, and the models for Mr Chef and the Squidjaws is chunky, like old school quake, and therefore hitable. The destructible trees and architecture was awesome, something I have only seen in Armed assault, xcom and some RTS (Like company of heroes). It adds so much. (Sawing down the trees with the mounted MG was sick) For all the awesomeness of COD1 and COD4, when a picket fence or wooden door dosn`t even get scratched by your pineapple, it dosn`t resonate well.

As for game club, about what time Dave? I work evenings. I would definately be up for it, even if it involved getting kicked out or beaten up. It would be like back in the day, sneaking into see bands. But without the girls or drug dealers probably.

I quite enjoyed the Battlefield demo, but it does seem to be afflicted with the typical FPS curse of having clairvoyant NPC enemies. I mean, sure that one Russian chick in the Indiana Jones movie could read minds, but these bastards in Battlefield can see me coming 100 miles away - otherwise known as the "FarCry" effect. Mrrrrr...

Wish I could join you lads tonight, but I've got a heap of house work to do that I've been ignoring in the name of GRID.
