Indeed, I don't mind collecting games too, though.

Ok kids, so the lady has loosened the purse strings. I can go get Civ-Rev NOW. Yes, I know, I should get NG2 instead... but I´ve vowed to finish the first one beforehand even though I´ve been beating that horse for about 3 years so far.

Problem is, no region coding information anywhere. I am not very hopefull either, region free games are usually world wide releases, like with Halo 3 (works on anything) and GTA4 (Which was region free-ish). Civ rev wont be out in the states till July, so I am guessing they region locked it.

So, where you guys can help me is by giving me a heads up on any good video stores that stock the latest and greatest in 360 games so I can test this mother out before laying down the e´s. I live in Ramersdorf but don´t mind travelling about (Good old weekly metro pass!).

Also, it´s saturday, which means it´s almsot friday again. Anyone got any ideas for a location for drinkies and nerdtalk?

Not sure about video stores, but maybe Gamestop will let you take it back within a certain time?

And pete, how did you like civ? I thought it sucked at first, but by my second game the controls clicked and I think I enjoy it more than vanilla civ4, not as good as that fall from heaven mod though, that thing is das sheitzer. I find it balances my overdoes of GTA4 quite well (I am not loading that game up again until I get a nice tv or have a group of people who are not more stupid than me to play with)

For some reason random destruction in this game isn´t as fun as it used to be despite the fact that everything about the game is better than it´s predecessors. Although I had fun with my old man the other day doing the online thing, fire truck race on the jersey freeway, and then some bullit style shinanigins in the muscle cars. He was too shit at shooting stuff to do much more than that though... (He cannot handle games that don´t use a mouse or a 100 button flight stick)

Man, I wish my old man was cool enough to race firetrucks with me on GTA.

I laughed out loud to pickledgamers.com when I thought of it, but I too am leaning toward gamerstavern.com. 'where everbody knows your game' , or something rather.

Still in Canada, be back in 2 weeks, my liver is taking a beating, but all in the name of the tavern! I really miss my consoles at the moment, but I have bought a shitload of DS titles because there cheap over here. That little system has some suprisingly deep titles, and make me look forward to the 13 hour plane ride back to Munich!

I see MGS4 out, and I want to get it and I should since it will work on any ps3, but I really want to play 1-3 first. Other than that and NG2, there is not much else to get when I come back.

Anway I am willing to invest time and money into this little project of ours, and I will not get into details on this board but we have a LOT to talk about next meetup when I return. Nice to hear the enthusiasm too, we will never know unless we try right.

Yeah Brennerezer, visiting the crew back home is unhealthy. All that booze and the women are intrigued by your exotic adventures in eurasia... I did serious damage to myself last time.

Gamerstavern is good, but heaps of those names are also awesome. I think we need another meeting involving beers, and maybe a vote or domain-names-ina-hat kind of thing or some combination of the two.

My old man is pretty awesome, twice the nerd and ten times the income. He got into it late 80´s because of flightsims, then got into RTS bigtime when we got our first PC. (CnC, AoE, RoN and TA) and then I introduced him to Operation flashpoint. Now he is mad keen on FPS, Call of Duty being his favorite non sim style one. He has been hasseling me to get a gaming laptop since I left Nippon (and my PC... should ahve paid for shipping... DOH!) so we can link up in Armed Assault and Company of Heroes, but has yet to send me the cheque required for such an undertaking. He has also gotten into consoles big time for some reason. Maybe the sports car didn´t fix that mid life crisis like he thought it would... sure wish he was so liberal with the tech purchases back when I lived there. I made him go get MGS4 on sunday as he had a PS3 (For bluray) with nothing on it. I am waiting for him to get back to me so he can bitch about how shit it is to control as he does with GTA and Assasins Creed and every other console game.

And Dave, that comic is uncanny! The sunken eyes, bad hair, disturbing comments. The lazy layout especially speaks to me. I´ve needed a new avatar since that picture of me next to the giant gordon freeman didn´t turn out so well...

As for friday, I could tell you of a good Karaoke bar with gangsters in Tachikawa, or a good place in Perth with really awesome wedges and where girls dance on the bar (As of 6 years ago this was the case) but due to temporary underemployment, I have not crawled into any awesome holes in this city. Someone with experience needs to speak up, and soon!

If people want to nerd it up afterwards with some drinks and dualshock-ditching, I´ve got a niceish loungeroom in this house (for another 9 days only! waaaah!), but thats the only thing going for it here. The telle is a late 90´s largeish CRT, not so hot. Plus the only good party games I have are Bomberman Live! (Sick) and Gaylo 3, and one shity controller, so someone will have to bring some more gear. (the landlord left a ps2 and some controllers, but all his games suck) Plus the fan in my xbox is really quiet recently, which is awesome in one way but means it is probably about to go Chernobal on me leaving guests with nothing but dodgey cable and a good area for smoking outside. Also, my Mother in Law is here, but I bet she´ll disapear if we make enough noise. Wife is in Majorca so I might actually starve to death before friday if I am not lucky...

I know, about as interesting as a cuctus being shoved up ones rectum. Anyone got something better?

I could also review how crap the guy at Heim Spiel that showed me NG2 was at being a ninja. In fact, I will write this review now. In the style of Grandpa Simpson.

He was totally a ninja dog, nay, a ninja bitch. Or maybe I made him nervous because I requested he play it for me. The owner thought I was awesome because I turned the pram with my 10 month old rugrat in it away from the monitor, to prevent him being influenced by firey demons commiting atrocities against the Russian (or was it Tairon?) millitary. He still didn´t give me Civ Rev for free though. They had a copy there for 50 euro second hand! If only my boss gave me more than 2 shifts this week, dagnamit. Matloooock!

That said, I finally beat Alma 2 yesterday using the same Ninpo invincibility technique (What has it been? 3 years?). And then I had to fight these crappy ghost fish. I cannot make excuses for this. The boring swimming level can be considered a change of pace, the camera isn´t as bad as most 3rd person games, the bosses are awesome even when they kick your ass for the 50th time, but those Ghost Fish suck. If I ever meet someone from the former Republic of Team Ninja, I will ask them about those fish and if they say it was their idea, I will have to punch them. Which is saying something because I am weak, I don´t get into fights unless it is worth being pulverised...

You guys are making me want to be back in Munich right now. There is so much to discuss!!!

Who is responsible for what reviews? If we get into this hardcore I would recomend a meetup everyweek to discuss these things and whatnot. I am sure some of us have a favorite genre to review, and I guess that will be all sorted out after a few months. Before we go live we should really get a good bulk of content to launch the site.

Also with game reviews, of course there is going to be purchases, which will be from our own pockets of course, but I think we should as a group have a big library of games between us so that we can trade swap, you know, so its a little easier on our wallets. Like for example if I know you are reviewing a game, I will hold off on buying it and play it when you are done with it, etc.

I would love to get a podcast going as well. I heard that the Mac has some good software, and I would not mind getting a good microphone and headset to record them. I think that we are such a diverse group that our podcasts would be quite colorfull, plus we have no one telling us what we can or can not say, mwwhhahahaha.

I am fucking happy right now that I found some guys that have the same goal. Lets really work hard at this, and see were it goes. I know I am gonna spend way to much time on this allready

I was thinking about the drunk o meter, I think we should do it not as a how drunk were we when we reviewed it, but rather how drunk you would have to be to enjoy the game. For intance Babyz party would get a 10, because I would have to be drunk as fuck to play that peace of shit. Great games you could enjoy sober, ok games could use a buzz etc. etc.

Dave you are the man on making that logo, I would suggest an amber yellow and black for the color. We will just have to see. But its going to be nice to have our own board with topics and whatnot.
