GTA would be Grand Theft Auto.

Was pretty nice, but a bit quiet; I guess most people were watching the footy.
There were Ninja Gaiden 2 and The Bourne Conspiracy for the new games, but I found a copy of Sega Bass fishing for the Wii, and finished it off

Also played lotsa guitar hero with beers
On Saturday this week they have 6 pc's running the full version of the new Civ game, but that aint my thing...
I spoke to the guy who organizes the thing, and I can bring you guys along next time if ya want.

That would be very sweet mate. That's not until next month though, right?
What did you think to Bourne? I played the demo before and while the hand to hand combat is pretty cool, it feels like that the game is basically showing off the things that you could be doing whilst letting you negotiate the less cool bits.

Nope, its every 2 weeks, I'll link to the flyer when it comes out.
Bourne looks good but had waaay too many quicktime events for my liking. I didnt really see enough to give a full review... Maybe thats a job for DrunkenGamers.com??
but thats taken... maybe wasted/pissed/sloshed/inebriated/intoxicated/pickled gamers is available?

I contacted the people who own the domain name drunkengamers.com and asked them could we have it. Of course they'd ask for loads, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Of course there's always the Ubisoft style "Drunkengamerz.com"

Drunk Gamers Council does sound much better though

6 pcs running the new civ? They must be talking about the colonization addon for civ 4, or they are talking about ps3´s/360´s runnin the new console game... itäs definately my thing, but is about as far away from being a social game as one can get. It´d be a couple of hours at least to finish a game. Plus it is 5 players max. It would be right up my alley if there were a few others there nerdy enough to get into a faux historical ruckus.
My favorite store with my favorite bespectacled rotund employee/owner, who always gives me the heads up on import deals and whatnot (Despite me never buying anything because the wife has the gaming budget directed elsewhere atm) Had civ rev in today, for ps3 and xbox (maybe ds as well). They also do imports, NG2 uncut for instance. They had mass effect in english for about 30e, and heaps of other stuff. A bit pricey (59 euro for new stuff) but has a good enthusiast atmosphere, without the dungeon style decor and bad attitude that usually goes with it (see nerd alley in hauptbanhoff).
I was heartbroken when I passed a gamestop near Mikey D´s a few hundred meters away, just getting it´s interior together. Itäs weird, but the big flatscreens seem to be the first things they put in there. Will it drive him out of buisness? Maybe not, it certainly cannot compete with the import and USK18 games section.
Oh, itäs Vince by the way, wifes login was the last used and I can´t be bothered fixing it. Honestly, itäs not mine!
Also, why donät we call ourselves Inebriated Gamers? Same thing, different nomenclature. Sounds highbrow, even with all the bad spelling. Or maybe call ourselves Drunkgamers, but use german?
peteb
Jun 12 2008, 1:26 pm
Inebriated Gamers sounds good, but i'm just worried that our target audience (other inebriated gamers) may have trouble spelling it!

Still a cool name though. While we're at it we should register as many domain names as we can with random nouns+z on the end, and reap the benefits once Ubizoft get round to making the games, which shouldn't take too long really, judging on the quality of them so far!

Here here!
or is it "Hear Hear"?
Anyway, I suppose I could use the multimedia skills to help out with this site, although they are a bit rusty as I haven't used them so much since completing the degree 4 years ago (just the odd website here and there).
Between us I reckon we could come up with something pretty nice!
So, when should we arrange this meeting for, or should be wait until Brennan gets back?
RebellionLies
Jun 13 2008, 1:14 pm
We could do something next week as sort of a preliminary discussion/piss up. Once Brennan gets back we could probably finalise the plans.
I've been looking into some video capture hardware/software, and I've found a few things that could be useful - apparently the PS3 is a bit of a bastard to capture using HDMI because of the HDCP support required - the work around for that is to use HD component cables. Either way, if we do decide to do some video reviews/features I've probably got most of that kind of crap covered. Most of the stuff will end up being downscaled anyway, lest we all want to become broke due to hosting costs.
As for the page itself, my idea was to first setup a WordPress page that we can all use/contribute/publish to and then fill in the blanks around that framework (forums, hosting etc). Hosting is probably the biggest issue really, as you can never tell exactly how much traffic we're going to get.
The only missing things following that are finalising the name, getting some graphics produced and a few other loose ends here and there (email accounts etc.)
tassiedave
Jun 13 2008, 1:28 pm
Of course we should downscale; let youtube host everything! We should go the cheapest hosting possible, and scale up when (and more likely if) we get more that our mates/girlfriends to watch it.
Lets get a domain name sorted out now on this thread. I suggest we each put forward one or two unused domain names (tested via whois etc), then we decide which is best. How about we try and have the name picked out by Monday evening?
Then one of us can volunteer to pay the 15 euros or so for registration/bargain hosting for the first year, and we meet up soon at a bar to talk about contents/design/gaming and pay back the volunteer in beers all evening.
Does that sound like a plan then?
RebellionLies
Jun 13 2008, 2:06 pm
Definitely sounds like a plan.
Vimeo or DailyMotion would be better for hosting the video though.

Oooooh. What kind of site will it be? One where our honest opinions of games we purchased with our own hard earned garner us a loyal fanbase and ad revenue and then free games and then we sell editorial space to Ubisoft and give the new prince of persia and Rainbow Six Vegas 3 heaps of soft preview copy and a 9.5 out of ten score despite being worse than Warrior Within and then lose all credibility? Or will it just be an awesome forum, hidden from the upturned noses of the judgemental masses? Either way I`m in.
My one skill is I can talk a lot of shelf toilet quality drivell. Usefull in both the above scenarios.

hmmm... bit too beery, if there is such a thing.
www.supersmashedbrothers.net or variation.
Thats got it all and reminds me of the Bitmap Brothers. May not be all encompassing enough though. Plus, maybe nintendo will send ninjas to cut our throats while we sleep for bismirchin their good name with the non-pg slur of substance abuse.
Come to think of it, I have no good ideas right now. Time to pass the buck.
Best gaming site name ever, and maybe best site as well, was Old Man Murray. That name dosn´t mean anything, maybe ours dosn´t either?

Pete, shop us a pic of Baron Munchausen or however it is spelt, that awesome Gilliam film from way back when, but put a wiimote in his hand in place of the rapier. Just to see if it would work.
Damn, Iäm too excited to find a proper pic to edit, I`ll keep looking...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventure...aron_MunchausenAnd it had Uma Thurman in the raw! If you could work that into the site it would be even better.
edito= Actually, that photoshop idea is shit. But the name is cool. Having a persona behind the site, like with old man Murray, would help set the theme and style really well and stop things getting bland. But may discourage contributors as like Dave said, it wouldn`t seem so colaborative.
